POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys

Hunt played so well in the first half no we're be seen in golden point

1. Boyd - Stunningly safe as usual all night and ran like Karmichael at times. 9
2. Oates - Went missing at times, dropped a possible try but did some huge carries, typical Oates. 7
3. Roberts - Quiet as usual but did come up with a nice try and a great run towards the Death. 6
4. Moga - Was quiet and showed a lack of experience at times. 5
5. Kahu - He stuffed up for the Cows try after half time but given he was on one leg, he did so well for the side. 7
6. Milford - He was back tonight in attack and defense and should have earned a few extra penalties but just play on lad, those drop goals bring his score down. 8
7. Hunt - Phenomenal first half but was a little quieter in the second, a lot to like tonight. 8
8. Sims - He is up there for buy of the season thus far, big runs, big hits and often the only kick chaser. 8
9. McCullough - The dummy is back, not sure that is entirely good but he was much better in the second half but those passes in the red zone still suck. 7
10. Blair - I really like the way he is playing but those (ridiculous) penalties and forced offload cost us. 6
11. Thaiday - He has wound back the clock this year, how very exciting. 9.5
12. Gillett - No coincidence the Cows started to get on top when he went off after holding his side so well. 7
13. McGuire - Make him halfback!! He was good tonight but needs to get an offload going more, he's got it in him. 8

14. Glenn - He should have scored if not for the stupid ref, he was fairly quiet outside that. 6
15. Pangai Jr - He was fantastic when he was on and his 1-2 with Ese'ese is a massive plus for us this year, they really get a roll on through the middle of the game. 7
16. Ese'ese - I have been quite vocal in not rating him but he changed my mind tonight, he was almost best on field, I'll put his error down to inexperience. 9
17. Arrow - He is that starchy forward who can Marshall the middle while TPJ and Ese'ese power run and hit, no surprise he was still running with a lot of energy towards the end when everyone else was stuffed, despite coming in off the bench. 7

Ref - We got our share of luck true but the square ups were well and truly on in force and that gift two points to the Cows was just a joke and in the end cost us the game.

Don't think I've ever seen Thurston hit a drop goal properly yet. Arsey ****

its at these times were u kinda wish Bennett was not so cool calm and collected. when other coaches throw hissy fits after a loss like that with some horrible ref square up penalties they usually get the rub of the green the following few games.

a small part of me wishes we had that but then my bronco pride would be a little ashamed that we have to go to that level

Chuck on your reading glasses, I said at this stage of his career. Not for the remainder of his career. He's blown more game winning opportunities than anyone else in the NRL in the last 2 and a bit years. Kicking the occasional field-goal doesn't make him clutch. Kicking it dead and making errors of judgement in nearly every golden point proves that he's not.. At this stage of his career.

I didn't call you any names, but whatever you're cool. You were clearly meaning that you reckon he won't be a clutch player, but you seem to make a habit of playing semantics when called out on anything.

It's like if I said "I think it's pretty clear at this point in his career that Moga won't score a try for the Broncos"

And then when someone points out it's only his second game for the Broncos, I jump back in and say "I clearly meant for his first two games, I'm not saying he won't score a try in the future".

Agreed.

Blair's attempted offload at 20-18 wasn't flash either. As a senior player, he really should have known better.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one, that was arguably worse than the other two purely because of the circumstances, 1st tackle as well. Just 2 or 3 silly mistakes, that's all it takes in these games against the Cowboys because we're so evenly matched.

But once again, monumental efforts overall from a lot of players, especially Hunt & Roberts, they were everywhere tonight, even defensively.

The ref goes on the cowboys team

Why on earth would I think that Milford won't be a clutch player? If I thought that, I would've said that. I said at this stage of his career because I meant at this stage of his career, he's 22 and has been asked to win us about 20 games individually over the last 2 years, and his strike rate of doing so isn't what you would call "clutch".

I have no doubt he's going to be an exceptional player for us in the future.

At points our defence was 2015 esq, was really good but then let in a few soft tries
We are def top 4 material this year

I don't get the negativity. We lost by hairs breadth against a grand final team with the best player in the world and seasoned (but aging) players, in golden point! They wont get any better, but us, some players were playing their second game for the club, some are barely out of under 20's. I cant wait to see the rematch.

Agree with this. All the boys should put in and let Wayne rip. It's getting preposterous.

Our forwards are doing good. Bench is on fire. Backs are classy. The only thing lacking are the halves. Otherwise we'd be untouchable

Essesse and TPJ were great. They are nailing down there bench spots for certain. I just don't like both Arrow and Glen on the bench. Not sure what Arrow offers. At least Glen can run some lines and is utility. Not sold on Arrow at all.

Great game of footy.

Plenty to like out there for the Broncos, I thought Hunt had some fantastic touches and Arrow once again proved his value off the bench.

The key will be how they bounce back next week.

What is it exactly that you liked about Arrow?

^ stop living on 2015, we're not the same team, not by a long shot

we're a middle of the pack side that completely lacks the polish and attention to detail that the serious, modern, contemporary teams who're serious about winning a comp, sides have...

12-12 will be a good result for this collection of misfits .. meanwhile, the modern day coaches like Green, Robinson et al will have their sides doing the things that win comps in this CENTURY
