Round 2 - Broncos vs. Dragons - Build Up Thread

What frustrates me is that the answer to our forwards being dominated is so fucking obvious because it's done by the Bulldogs, Manly, Storm and others - don't run one out! Have forwards run in pairs or threes, have short passes between them, use a bit of footwork at the line. Run decoys. If you run one out, then the defence can get 2-3 tacklers on you and dominate, drive you back.

It's so painfully obvious and yet the Broncos continue with this one off the ruck straight into the defence bullshit.

Yep that exactly. That forwards passing Hasler has got going with Bulldog props is beautiful. How does Griffin think McGuire, Thaiday, Parker running into 3 defenders over an over again is going to get us anywhere?

kahu is playing in the centres for wynumm - i dont know much about him but would that be his preferred position? or are they playing him there for experience to bring him into our centres in the near future?

will have a watch as its the 2pm game live on 9 v redcliffe.

noticed hala is #17 for the dolphins. guess he is still a while off the pace?

I've seen him touted as a possible 5/8, center, wing and fullback replacement...

He played that last trial game at center, and, I think, he was playing in the centers when he did his knee last year?

Going from what i saw in the Arrive Alive Cup i think his preferred position would be fullback but that was 4 years ago now.

Kahu prefers fullback and I prefer...

Mod Edit: Keep it PG mate.

ah - yeah just realised this is his first game back.

hopefully hala can get up match fitness quickly and get in our 17 soon

I've got a lot of hope riding on his shoulders. Maybe I'm building him up too much in my head but I was a huge fan of what he brought off the bench.

.... and yet Griffin tried that last year and it seemed to work a treat ... for the few games it lasted.

Damn we need a class play maker/leader/organizer on the field to keep it going

I doubt Thurston would have done any better with the crap dished out by our forward pack in the Manly game.

We can bag the spine, the backs and everything else under the sun, but without a platform set out by the forwards, the backs can't do much.

Everyone is forgetting what we did in the little time we actually dominated field position. We actually looked quite good, scored 2 tries and were denied another 3 by the video ref, 2 of which quite controversially. (Both Macca and Reed were prevented from scoring illegally)
All of this against one of the better teams in Manly and not that much field domination bar the period we benefited from penalties.

We need the forward pack to answer present against the Dragons, otherwise they will bash us into submission!

all frontrowers especially Hannant to need bend the line consistently if we are to win.

in typical fashion joshy mcguire has said the forwards were weak as piss and need to stand up this week.

BACK IT UP

RIP IN

as the week wears on im starting to feel like we can get a good W this week

Looks like Ben hunt will drop off the bench and Lui will come on. Wallace to fill in at dummy half while McCullough rests and Norman to go to 5/8.
