[Round 22, 2021] Broncos vs Roosters

Haven't got a dog in this fight but just wanted to point out that Riki plays predominantly on the edge and Kennedy in the middle, so that could explain the stats.........carry on
I thought of that as well, and Riki was playing against fresh defence.

Yes, granted. Truthfully though, forwards are required to make metres, make tackles and keep errors to a minimum. I don't really think it explains such a difference but I take your point on board. It's not so much a fight, well not from my side. I just want the unnoticed good stuff given as much air time as the odd error. Like I said, one error in the last four games. That's solid work at a bargain basement cost.

It was the same defence as when they were both on the field. Besides that, when Kennedy has started his stats are just as good as usual. I don't think RK is a superstar or elite, he's a good, reliable nrl standard forward and we get that for a super price. I just want fairness.

I agree. I think Kennedy has been very good value this year and has put himself in a decent position moving forward in the short term. Have to say though, there are a few young blokes coming through that look promising. I'm a fan but wouldn't surprise me if Kennedy gets shuffled back in the pack in a year or so.

Totally agree. I think it's extremely likely he'll be finished come Sep 2022.

I'm sure I will regret asking, but why do you care so much about others opinion on Kennedy's performance?

The last 3 pages have been mind numbingly painful to read when I just wanted to catch up on what, if anything was said by the NRL about the Broncos vs Roosters and had to scratch through 3 pages of dribble to find out it was posted elsewhere anyways.

I'm all for having favourite players, but surely people are entitled to share opinions on players having good and bad games. Not everyone deep dives all the stats for the past 5 weeks before coming on here to moan about the last error they remember, being the RK drop ball. We get it, you believe he is value for money, and stats very well may show that as well, but it just isn't necessary to force this on everyone else.

None of us are the coach, RK continuing to be picked will be testiment to whether Kev thinks he is going well or not.

I love chatting Broncos and trying to get involved, but these last few pages in here have been a real eye opener. Anyone wanting to maybe start joining in, seeing that they could seriously reconsider ever sharing an opinion if thats what they are going to cop for daring to say that "Coates had a bad game" or "Kennedy made a mess of that".

Just some late night musings from someone who can't sleep yet again 🙃

I might reverse this and make an observation or two.

I've never met Kennedy and know little about him.
I'd ask 'why do you care that I believe our players should be spoken about with respect'?

Like a lot of people I hate bullies and bullying and that's what this is. Another thing I like is balance. Balanced views. I don't think I can change the world but it doesn't mean I cannot try to bring a balanced view, a more pragmatic view to the table.

Not once have I stated that a mistake was not made or it wasn't so and so's fault. The other night Kennedy made a mistake and it was right at the death. No problems with that. It's all the add ons, the embellishment, the outright lies that aggravate.

I don't see that that's necessary especially considering Kennedy(any player) is our guy, he's in our clan, he's one of 'us'. I want us all to consider everything when judging what is a player's total worth.

Like I've said, I have absolutely no problem with fair and balanced criticism. I haven't seen anyone 'cop anything' for simply stating they were pissed because RK dropped a pass. I did however jump on the lies but you cannot see that. I was pissed he dropped it too but I didn't instantly forget all the good stuff he's done.

Sorry dickhead, that's not my model.

Here it is so you can misrepresent it again.

If you want the highest performance levels you pay for the privilege.
If you aren't prepared to pay for the best you MUST ACCEPT the lower standards you've paid for.

Even so, Kennedy isn't playing poorly. One error in the last four games is proof of that.

We are getting fantastic value from Kennedy considering his wages bill. He easily meets nrl standards.
He has a low mistake rate, low tackle miss rate, makes consistent metres and represents the club appropriately.
It's really easy, Huge. Say it with me. Kennedy messed up and should have caught the ball. That's all you need to say.

Kennedy didn’t cost us the game just like Sims didn’t cost us the game in 2008

Okay. Have you ever heard the old Shakespearean phrase "more honoured in the breach etc"?

If you understand that then the rest is easy. It's about perceptions and not reality. Here's a couple examples.

One poster was patiently explaining to me that Kennedy's performance had been poor lately( we're talking 4/5 weeks odd) and that was why KW was giving him fewer minutes each week.

What's the reality? Kennedy's minutes have increased substantially over that peroid!

Another poster pointed to Kennedy's 'missing tackles, giving away penalties and constant errors'

Reality? One error in the last four games, very low missed tackle rate and **** all penalties. In every single area RK's team mates leave him for dead in the '**** up' section. Frequently his more highly paid, preferred and fancied team mates have mountains more missed tackles and errors.

Just look at the two stats I provided on Riki and Kennedy.
RK played half, yes half the minutes Riki did and still beat him in every single stat (aside from the good opportunistic try)

My point is people are just remembering the '**** one goat'. If anything highlighted my point clearly I haven't seen it. What Riki did in 80 minutes, Kennedy exceeded in 40 minutes.
Do you think being off side and not attempting a tackle counts as a missed tackle on the stats? Stop talking about stats like they mean everything and learn about the game and context of a dropped ball, that should have been caught, in the final minutes or how kicking the ball out on the full after we've been scored against puts us on the back foot. You simply have no idea, and you're the first to tell others they don't know what they're talking about.

I don't know why you guys let him rustle your jimmies so much.

Those who don’t think there is skullduggery at play re refs, penalties, etc, have a read of Moles column today. You’ve just go to make up your mind where you think the refs performances lie on the scale from “easily led‘ to “corrupt”.
