POST GAME [Round 25, 2024] Broncos vs Eels

I thought after that horrible first 10 minutes, we were pretty decent given we had three huge names out still in Walsh, Haas and Mam. Some of you guys need to temper your expectations. We won against a team clearly up for it from the start and who we’ve had trouble against in recent years. All good signs.

And as for the presser, for some of you, Kevvie could have said the opposite and you’d still bag him out. Can’t win that poor bloke no matter what he says or does.
Agree with all of that especially the last part. Certain people on here will just disagree with everything Kevvie does. He could have said yeah we need to hope for results and try to win these next 2 games and they would say “way to inspire confidence”. It’s pretty pathetic but not unexpected.

Where did sailor's try come from? It was quite brilliant. I was shocked!

Supercoach Kevvie certainly put specialist caretaker Trent in his rightful place at the bottom of the table. This should put an end to speculation over his position.

You've gotta give them credit for coming back from what could possibly be the worst 15 minutes of footy ever played. But we're still so far off the pace it isn't funny.

Some positives for me include Staggs really starting to show some leadership qualities. Taking hard carries, playing very aggressive and doing alot of talking. Despite being a million years old, reyno showing he may possibly still be first grade quality next year. And big Marty continues to do his job. I think its important we give him an extra year. Unless the club has a genuine value for money replacement lined up i don't think it sends a good message when someone is doing a good job like Marty but not offered a (basically at minimum wage) extension.

I'm still hopeful this year has simply been a big hangover from making last years grand final and a result of simply thinking they'd repeat it without the hard work. The sooner season ends the better, give them a nice long off season then back and flog the living shit out of them all preason. Big attitude adjustment and get ultra fit.

Make it clear to guys like Piakura, Riki, Mam and others who have underperformed that their positions are up for grabs and if they want to keep them they need to earn it. Unless you're hass, patty, walsh or reyno then you're not guaranteed a start next year.

I really fear these junk time wins at the end of season will cover over some of the cracks on how bad we've been.

One thing we learned tonight, Walsh can pretty much name his price because we are putrid in attack without him
Tristan basically played the same game, albeit somewhat muted, but he didn't cough it up. I was pleasantly surprised by his performance. We gathered momentum when Mozer took control of dummy half. Rogers wasn't woeful.

I have to laugh at that Parra challenge on half time.

Mariner places his hands on Gutho and Gutho literally kicks the ball dead but it gets deemed a push.

Mind-boggling that was successful.
Smart challenge.

He looked a broken man up in the box. He knows the only thing between him and the dole queue is convincing his team to play like every game from now on is a domino in the Premiership. So yeah, he has to talk it up.

All Kevvie has to do is let the results on field do the talking…
The only reason people critical of him are getting traction is the abysmal on field efforts of late

Roger’s was impressive for the most part. You’ve got to remember he’s the third string half and he had just an ounce more speed, he would have opened them quite a few more times. Could be a nice stop gap 7 to bridge Reynolds to Black if needed.

Yeh, there were a couple of times I got excited when he made a half break. He needs to invest in a sprint training coach in the off-season. Just that extra split second of explosive power off the mark would have seen him through on a few occasions last night.

Have to admit I found it harder to come back after the first 15 minutes than the team did. I honestly couldn't tell you whether whether we won or Parramatta choked. I did think our spine started looking more fluent when Mozer came on, but it was Tristan gaining confidence that caught my attention most.

Mazer is 1000000000% better than billy, it’s getting downright awkward now.
No surprises there. But if you think Billy is one-dimensional and predictable, watch Brendan Hands. Another hooker who tanks his spine. He can play 80, though.

Your main man Pete "The Hard Hitter" Badel folded like a deck of cards when Kevvie challenged him, forced him to change his question. What a skirt.

It was both. Parra started to choke when Patty & Reyno took it to them.

Dylan brown did sweet FA for his team and his season has Mam looking like DLock out there. Are parra worried about him?

Just want to point out how underrated Jensen is, despite playing 11 less minutes then carrigan, made 1 less tackle, missed 3 tackles compared to carrigans 7 and gained 145 meters compared to carrigans 215

Jensen arguably had the same if not more effort then Carrigan (in defense at least) that game and made tackles more consistently, but I dont think anyone has mentioned him once.
