Round 26 Broncos vs Storm - Pre Game Discussion

You're looking at it the wrong way. What you should say is:

All they've got is line speed, size, wrestle, play the ball speed, structure, kicking game.

We've got Ben Hunt's dummy!

What we should all be asking is.....what's Melbourne's excuse ? I mean, if they have all these advantages over us, why have they won only one more game than us and scored fewer points? If they are so superior, why is it not reflected in the stats and on the scoreboard ?

We would do well to remember that had it not been for the terrible capitulation to Cronulla we would have the superior record.

We can win this, absolutely no doubt and I'm beginning to think the Broncos know this too.

So can you still picture it or is Maranta the only one with "the balls to put his body on the line"? Because I seem to remember Hoffman placing his whole body in front of Inglis.

You think what you like. All he had to do was get in his way. With his shoulder to his guts or legs but no, he stood like a statue and put his arms out to grab Inglis around the chest making it incredibly easy for Inglis to plant his hand in the centre of Hoffmans chest and brush him just like he has done countless times before. You see, it wasn't necessary to wrap up the ball, there was no one to pass it too. He was also off centre. Had he committed to a classic legs tackle he would have at the very least knocked Inglis off balance and most likely to the ground. It was dreadful and gave Inglis a confidence boost. It was shit but you can defend it if you want.

But you implied that he didn't put his body on the line when it was actually all he did. Standing in front of a rampaging Greg Inglis? What a fucking wuss he must be..

It's that bogey team mentality. Simple. If it was any other team, in the same position as Melbourne, there'd be half the negativity about our chances imo

So Thaiday gets a week for that "crusher"? WTF?

They need to fight that one, for sure.
If Thaiday goes down for that, the fix is definitely on.

yeah, surely they will fight and win. that is ridiculous.

anti qld club campaign has begun

Our sport is becoming a fucking joke. If a parent thinks their kid shouldn't play because of tackles like that, let them go play soccer and fall over at every opportunity they get.

No, he didn't put his body on the line, he put his arms out or 'on the line' so to speak. If he actually had of put his body on the line he would have stopped Inglis dead in his tracks. If you read my post you would have noticed I said he stood off centre as well, to Inglis's right if I remember correctly. Yeah, he did wuss it. Definitely not a first grade attempt and if he isn't first grade he should move on or out.

The problem is we have about a 95% lose rate when we fight charges.

K.Hunt fought for his hit on anasta ... before that the last time we beat a charge was mid 90s

wtf are you on about. it wasn't the best choice of tackle to make, but his body was certainly on the line. he just got smashed because really he should of gone low/at the hips and fell around the legs.

hoffman is not the first, and will not be the last, defender to get this treatment from GI.

I wonder what happens to our line-up if Thaiday is suspended, probably something like this.

1. Hodges
2. Vidot
3. Reed
4. Copley
5. Maranta
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Hannant
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker

14. Kennedy
15. Oates
16. J.Wallace
17. Lowrie

Hoffman did his job stopped him long enough to get a second man into the tackle. Gillett falls off the tackle. Hoffman made the correct decision in this case shame the rest of the team couldn't back him up.

yeah agreed.

even after hoffman/gillett fell off inglis we should have scrambled better to stop the try being scored.

anyways

I would be willing to bet, Gillett to 13. Oates to 12. And Lowrie on the bench.

A still shot does not tell the story. Of course I could be wrong, he may have not put his body on the line but then again he might have. Like I said, I could be doing him a disservice and if so, I retract the comments about him not doing so. I just think that the correct tackle was the one that required the most courage and I've probably chosen my words poorly. I'd still like to see the tackle on video before a more complete admission of stupidity !!
