Nah, Arthars is still the goods, he lacks the body to punch the line to get more meters but is ahead in everything else from what I have seen.
That's the problem with our wingers. Fast and reliable, but really suck at the kick returns. And Walsh isn't that good at it either.

They're all fast, they should try to use their pace a bit more and go around the chasers.

Lol what were you watching.. you realise Arthur's wasn't wearing the number 15 tonight right?

I said he was ordinary, not putrid like Fletcher baker, and he was ordinary. Just because you score a try doesnt mean you necessarily play well. Our edge defence was pretty poor even allowing for back rowers playing center. First time this year they have been put under real pressure defensively and they collapsed. Staggs was probably the exception to this.

It didn't help having Cobbo moved to fullback who would be our best outside back battering ram.

They just keep pushing forward off the mark. They've done it for years. Just keep pushing forward and get a six again. Really need a coach to come out and lambast the tactic and bring a lot of attention to it.
Yeo and Edwards are specialists at it.

Positives:

Defence

If you really think about it, we actually didn't even concede a try.

Might sound weird, but let me explain.

All except one of the tries where scored through the spots where Piakura or Riki were defending in the centres. The one try they scored through the middle was a double movement.

Piakura

Obviously did not thrive when in the centres, but just looks so good when playing in the second row.

Is getting better each week and always looks so dangerous.

Willison

I know Walters has had his reasons for keeping Xavier out of the team by now, but on ability, he should have been in the team from round 1.

Has everything we need from a bench forward at the moment, gives great go forward, aggressive defensively and has an line break/offload in him at any time.

Provides both X factor and impact for us and will only get better.

Mam

Obviously wasn't great in the first half, but his second half was super promising. We got to see him take control as the dominant half and he was so dangerous.

Might be a blessing in disguise long term to him to play without Walsh and Reynolds, as he couldn't just stay in his shell and had to make things happen.

Hoping that we see Mam play like he did in the second half, even when Walsh and Reynolds are back. Will only make the team more dangerous.

Cobbo

Such a freak and if he full time trained at fullback, I believe he would be amazing there.

He is going to dominate at centre this season, especially once that left side of him, Piakura and Mam play more together.

I thought Arthurs did pretty well tonight. What did he do wrong?

Coming in off his wing, positionally, he should have been more disciplined. He knows the role so while it wouldnt have helped him having a back rower next to him, i still think he should have been better defensively.

Yep, exactly that. He's a winger, as i said, he knows his role, he knows the position. You cant always blame others for your mistakes.

Oates probably needs to be on the bench. This likely won't be the first time we lose a backline player, and Oates is maybe the only player left in in our squad that provides the option to play in the backline or the forward pack. He offers a bit more options and versatility when we get forced into a reshuffle. We can't keep sticking props in the backrow, and backrowers in the centres. Would have been nice to still have Capewell.

Oates should definitely be on the bench. He could play anywhere and not loom out of position
