Round 9 - Cowboys vs Broncos

Isaako is the same as Milford. If only Milford could fix this and that he'd be a gun player.

The whole spine is the biggest issue, like @Wolfie said.
I disagree. Isaako is trying hard, he’s just got limited ability.

Milford on the other hand evidentially has ability in spades, but couldn’t even be fucked getting out of his own way.

Where was the desperation to stop the field goal? 18 all, you would think the whole defensive line would move up quick, but everyone except turpin stood back! If people make an effort and dont make it in time that is one thing, but to not even try is another and not good enough for a first grade team.

I don't agree with that. When he's on, he's up there with the best. But we all see his mistakes too.

Had Milford set him up with a field goal, he might've won the game for us.
Can you name me 1 game in his career he has been 'on' for 80mins?

You can't be up there with the best when he can't even put together a full game.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, he’s an absolutely clutch Kicker, but as far as actual Fullback play is concerned ‘up there with the best of them’ is a gross overstatement.

I’m battling to think of a club where they’d trade their Fullback for ours?
Not a single one. The only team who's fullback is arguably as bad is the Dogs, but they play a new 1 every week.

Yeah Milford, the only one of all the ones mentioned who has shown he is an NRL standard fullback.

Well if you want to question the statement, you can answer my question. Do you believe that it was Isaako's decision to take the short kickoff?

If Isaako spent the entire year in ISC, he wouldn't win best fullback of that comp

Nobody has said he is the only problem, however he is a consistent problem doing the same thing week after week and showing no signs of improvement.

Every sweeping play that's resulted in points had his hands on it because he's the fucking fullback, he is also the reason a lot of the sweeping plays often don't work with his shit ball playing ability, the bloke can barely pass left to right. Even his assist for Coates tonight was behind his head and it was a simple pass without any pressure on him. You just want him to fix up the errors in his game and his defensive positioning....Yeah I'm pretty sure he can do that in ISC, or do you expect the team to play with a fullback who isn't first grade standard for a few years? He either needs to go back to the wing, or go and learn how to play fullback in reserve grade.

What did you expect Oates to do? Just let Feldt catch a ball that was dropping 1m short of the goal line? Of course Oates had to make a play at the ball, if a winger doesn't play at that they should be hooked immediately.
Did you see Milford's superb defence tonight? Think play before LOLos try.

Ay and with isaako and isc fullback of the year. See attached

To be fair to Isaako he played pretty well till that dropped ball, then it looked like he was gassed, probably just not fit enough to be a proper fullback.
He looks pretty fit to me. Some of his errors - like dropping bombs - can be coached better. Some are just serial bad luck. Look at Flegler. He had a blinder tonight. Who saw that coming?

That was a fun game until the last ten minutes.

We played well, but watching that it's pretty clear where our deficiencies are. They're certainly not physical because we are fit and strong, it's all mental game.

- Milford doesn't put in the 1% plays ever... and the cowboys successfully targetted him... Valentine got through him on the play where Granville nearly scored and Clifford ran around him on the game losing play.
- Bench usage better but still a bit off, Turpin needed a spell and I think Kennedy could have had another go, he was playing well tonight.
- Lack of game management at the end, it looked like Gamble hurt himself, so I'm not going to be too hard on him, but he definitely went into his shell... Probably would have been better to put Levi on and shift Turps to 7 when that happened.
- Don't know how to win... this is a big one.. just play high % play when you're in front in a tight one... Instead we saw terrible ball security... we just play dumb under pressure
- Isaako loves to make an error when we really don't need it (same with flegler, but not tonight)

Otherwise all the forwards were pretty good I thought, bit sloppy toward the end but Lodge, Haas, TPJ all stood out. Our bench was great , just used ineffectively. Backs still playing like individuals, but good when they do work it together... Especially Farnworth and Oates, they got no feel for each other's game. Spine was our weakest point - again - Turpin is okay but he isn't 80mins. Milf is okay in attack and lazy in D. Gamble, dunno... Seems serviceable. Isaako... Rocks n diamonds but mainly rocks tonight. If he had a good game we would have won.
Good summary.

But I'll go with "we wuz robbed! NRLs fault!"

If Isaako catches that bomb we probably win but just watching the game unfold, you knew he was going to drop at least one of them

Did I see his defence on an edge as a reason for why he can't play at fullback? OK buddy

Awww congrats on him winning the reserve grade best player :) If only he wasn't such a shit player in first grade.

Just general ability to not be burnt, and then he seems good at not being run over, see earlier game vs titans this year.

Well you reckoned he couldn't even win that, so me thinks your full of shit.

Coates was outstanding tonight, I really really hope he stays but we aren't really in a position to throw big money at him

I thought most of the guys played well tonight, the Cows have some dangerous players and we managed to get Jake Clifford's best game tonight, would of loved to win but you can't fault the effort

I’m not gonna stand here pretending to be a professional cause most of my attention was on the super rugby final but without the commentary on and all the bullshit they feed you, the broncos actually looked shithouse. Every time I looked up someone was dropping a ball missing a tackle honestly it might have just been me but I was not impressed. Especially in the 2nd half

Well we went up one spot on the ladder but it could have been so much higher. At least we are not getting flogged but why does this result feel worse. Where would we be without the yes buts? Yes Keep our chins up heh but maybe in a day or two.

I suppose time will tell. We have him till the end of next year, so he has some time to fix his errors and prove he is worth holding onto.
Idroppo has the same errors now as he did last year......he won't improve. He's reached his ceiling.

Big shoutout to our outside backs over the last few weeks. They have been excellent in bringing the ball out of trouble.

If only we could use our backline as much. When our backs get quality ball they are so dangerous. Not enough backline moves for mine.
