THREE high-profile rugby league players are reportedly being investigated over an alleged sexual assault at a nightclub in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.

Channel 10 reported tonight that three high-profile players were being investigated after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted in the toilets of the Alhambra Lounge, in inner-city Fortitude Valley, last night.

Queensland police would not confirm whether three National Rugby League players were involved.

But a spokeswoman said an alleged assault at a nightclub last night was being investigated.

"Police are investigating an alleged incident," the spokeswoman said.
