Test Series v India

Phil Hughes has also stood down from the Big Bash to concentrate on getting himself right for first class cricket. Succeeding at test level obviously means a lot to him.

Christian surely can't be a worse option at six than Steve Smith was. Would play White over both though. Better fielder by miles, and also quite adept against spin.

Steve Smith was averaging over 45 when he first got picked for the test side. Cameron White is a #### batsmen far worse then Smith.

I think it is excellent that he has made this call. I really hope he makes it back provided he fixes his game.

Can't fault the kid's attitude. Really want to see him succeed.

Well considering Steve Smith consistently bats higher than him and has a far superior first class average... Both are short form specialists IMO. Christian's bowling is easily superior though.

I couldn't give a #### what steve smith averaged when he was selected. It doesn't change the fact he was an extremely average number 6.

I still remember all the hype around Steve Smith... he's gone completely off the radar! :haha:

Didn't doubt he was average, what is laughable is that you want Cameron White in the test side

The best first class all-rounder not in the team is Simon Katich. Averages 52 with the bat and 35 with the ball.

Steve Smith went to cult hero status when he caught that ball remember he was going over the sidelines, threw it back in, then grabbed it. Anyway once he did that, his popularity went through the roof and the selectors were swayed it seems.

Smith can field that is his strength at the moment. If he could fix his technique up he would be very well suited to batting at 6 in the longer forms.

Michael Clarke (capt), Brad Haddin (vice-capt), Dan Christian, Ed Cowan, Ben Hilfenhaus, Michael Hussey, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, James Pattinson, Ricky Ponting, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, David Warner.

At first I thought this was a weird line up, but then realised it's alphabetical order.
Diabolical that Haddin is the vice captain. Gah!
