Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

I'd just like to say that I don't really appreciate Wayne coming out and saying that the Rabbitohs are "a boring team, and won't win the premiership"

Keep it to yourself mate, watching the Knights is like counting sheep this season.

I find it ironic that in a forum where people with no credentials get a say, a 8 time premiership winning coach can't have an opinion.

He didn't say that either.

“Souths aren’t going to change,” said Bennett, whose only joy came from two tries in a three-minute period during the second half.

“There wasn’t one of us in that changeroom who didn’t know at any stage what they were going to throw at us and how they were going to do it.
“That’s their challenge. They do it every week the same way. If a team’s good enough to stand up to it, it puts them under pressure. We couldn’t stand up to them ... another day we might have.

“They play similar to the Roosters. We handled the Roosters OK last week – they run hard, they tackle in numbers and they’ll keep doing it for the full 80 minutes.”
Asked if that would be enough to win the competition, the Knights’ master coach answered: “Well, it didn’t work for them last year in the end – it’s debatable. They were good today. That’s all you can take. The other teams have got to stop that. As I said, there’s not a coach in the NRL who doesn’t know how they’re going to play.
“If no one can stop them, they can certainly win the premiership. They’ve got enough strike-power and ability in that team. It’s a pretty hardened footy team – there’s a fair bit of confidence.”

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Bennett ball is a myth. He builds his game plan around one or two players.

At the dragons he built the team around Soward. All the players he signed weren't flashy and his whole plan was built around grinding it out, taking very few risks, and letting Jamie kick them to victory (kicktory?)

And it worked, it worked extremely quickly. It was genius. It wasn't the most exciting football and I'm sure Bennett would've preferred a more exciting style but it wasn't the best choice.

Newcastle was similar, he had two or three players that stood out (Mullen, Gidley) and built a game plan and team around them. Except when those players spent a lot of time injured all you're left with is a team full of unimpressive reliable players.

The dragons would've tanked had Sowy gone down long term. "Bennett ball" is just the best way he found to make average rosters competitive.

The broncos are different, we already have good juniors and a team brimming with potential superstars. I think we've all forgotten what each player in our team is capable of on their day. Yeah, it's been missing for most of them but if anyone can get it back it's Wayne.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Just hope Bennett starts bringing through some of 20's next year instead of playing people like Lowrie and Stagg. If not we may loss the best crop of young players we have had in years according to the media.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

I really don't think we'll end up with Boyd tbh; we just won't have the coin. I heard that the Raiders were chasing him as they have lost both Milford and Robinson.

1. Milford
2. Hoffman
3. Copley (Boyd if he comes over).
4. Hodges
5. Vidot (Copley if Bennett brings Boyd).
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Hannant
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. Reed
15. Gillett
16. Kennedy
17. Hala

I would love this back line next year.

1. Barba
2. Hoffman
3. Copley
4. Hodges
5. Uate/McManus
6. Milford
7. Hunt

If Bennett does bring Knights players to the Broncos, it would be good if he could bring Uate or McManus. We would finally have 2 quality finishers on the wing... If Hoffman decides to shut up and play there.

I think Vidot and Reed should work on making the transition to the second row.

Not even the Raiders will call that a loss...

What happened to Vidot in your line-up?

Kinda forgot about him; fixed.

There was a period when Dugan was injured a couple of years back where Robinson was absolutely killing it.

Yeah, there was some pretty shoddy journalism around his quote. He never said they couldn't win it. He basically said you know what they are going to do and you've got to be good enough to withstand that.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Please.

How many players in league would have been willing to play for the Knights?

They are like Raiders, they had the money, but no one wants anything to do with them.

Urghh.......puh-leease

You don't think having the "super coach" wouldn't have been an attraction?

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

I know Reed is a really nice guy but I do not want him in the team, not on the bench or at centre or wing. He is a waste of space on the bench and lacks speed and x factor at wing and centre.

Yeah because I'm sure all the good NSW based players loved Bennett when they were younger. He doesn't have that reputation down there.

pull the other one, of course he has pulling power down there. thats pretty much the only thing im actually happy he will bring to the Broncos. for some reason good players want to be at his club, which in turn makes his job easier.

I don't think there's any chance in the world of Uate coming. He has gone so far backwards during bennetts tenure, and bennett dropped him.

Reed shouldn't be anywhere near the second row either. He's nothing more than an average to below average centre. He should be told to find another club. this time last year most on here were celebrating his re-signing lol. oh how times have changed.

Of course he would have some pull. But half of the NRL would have grown up hating Bennett and thinking Phil Gould was the super coach.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

I think Reed has earned the right to finish out this season in first grade.. I just hope the Bennett concludes that he's not going to be in our top 17 players next season, ESPECIALLY if Hoffman sticks around.

No offence to Vidot, he's been great for us this year, but he's hardly a real winger. If I had to choose between him and Uate, I'd choose Uate.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

We will get a chance to see how Milford goes at 5/8 this weekend, Stuart has made major changes, with Campese injured he has been moved to 5/8.

I have no doubt Bennett would have had some pulling power, however it wouldn't have made much difference.

Players want to win premierships, they want to play rep footy, they want trophies to put in a cabinet, they want a successful career. What's the chances of that happening at the Knights?

As I said, they are like the Raiders. No one really wants anything to do with them, especially with the state the club is in.
