SATIRE Turpin: I Want To Be A Bronco For Life

RETRACTION: the following contains a misprint.

Excitement machine Jake Turpin says he wants to be a Brisbane Bronco for life, and is 100% dedicated to the club. The tireless former captain – who turns 25 in November as the Broncos play the Warriors at Moreton Daily Stadium, Redcliffe tomorrow – is the latest emerging talent to express his commitment to Brisbane, joining halfback Adam Reynolds and centre Kotoni Staggs.

“I want to be a Bronco for life. My main thought is I don’t want to leave this club. I’m happy at the Broncos and Kevvie has been really welcoming. I want to help turn this club around. My immediate focus is playing good football. But I‘m 100 per cent dedicated to the Broncos."

“We have come back fresh and started with new staff. It feels like a new club, there is a family feel and Kevvie is a family-orientated bloke. He is getting the camaraderie going again and bringing back past players to have chats with us. There is a huge history of the club and Kevvie is teaching us when we put on that Broncos jersey, you represent the past, the present and all the people of Queensland."

“It all starts again tomorrow afternoon I can’t wait to get back out there, we want to make amends for the Broncos fans and show them we care about the jumper.”

Tomorrow afternoon's Round 4 clash with the Warriors will be the first time that members and fans will get a chance to see many of the current Broncos team play at their future home ground.

Is he at the Storm now is he?
The Broncos are so jealous of the Storm we tried to poach their entire organization. We managed to steal their CEO in the hope he'd bring their winning ways back to Brisbane. We failed to get any of their players, or at least none of the ones we really wanted.

Just be honest: you are seethingly jealous of their success. There's no reason to pretend we're somehow superior. The club was founded on the Broncos bag of dirty tricks, courtesy of Ribot and Johns. We withered like an old plum, while they blossomed.

We are now trying to build a likeness of their image in Red Hill.

I have made no secret of the fact I am extremely jealous of their success, a success built on the back of years of cheating. You can make all the claims you like about the Broncos but cannot prove any of it (not surprising for a journalist though), so until such time as proof is provided, I will continue to believe the Broncos were and are clean. You of course will believe whatever you want but none of it changes this team has done nothing positive for league in their entire existence and STILL benefit from years of deliberate cheating, only now it is approved and accepted by the game's administration itself.

You sound like a closet Storm fan, you know a hundred years ago we would have burned you at the stake for that sort of talk.

It's not the club. It's the town that's rotten.

I'm not a journalist either.

Nope. I think they should be relocated.

Remember the time Parramatta cheated the cap and still came last?

If we have been cheating the cap, that is the level of competence we clearly have in this club…

And ps, for Turpin being a Bronco for life?

Yeah, nah…

Just saw brailey from the sharks throw a 30m bullet pass from dummy half that hit hynes straight on the chest. I cannot remember seeing that done by a broncos 9 in recent memory.

I must operate on a completely different idea set.

The value his attitude brings is what builds a culture of wanting to be a Bronco and pride in the jersey.
That's the culture that saw the Broncos be the powerhouse they were in the 90's/2000's and people here are wanting him gone because he has had an ordinary couple of seasons in a wooden spoon team with zero consistency.

Would you rather fill the club with guys that dont give a **** so long as the paycheck is big enough?
Like Milford? The very same guys that gave us our wooden spoon?

For sure there is plenty of room for Turps to improve, but jeez his attitude is spot on and we need more of it, not less.

can you blame people for being sceptical?

in the last few years we have seen that talk from several players only to the cut and run

We've also seen players called the future of the club, or "in our plans," flicked to other clubs like dried up snot, following denials it was on the cards.

Poor Dolphins, i was worried about them at first, but it will be nice to not be the worst team in QLD anymore.

Blake Mozer will have a 10 year mortgage on the 9 position from next year. That may be the reasoning behind extending Turpin's contract for an extra year to warm the spot for Mozer to takeover.

Next year will still be a bit early probably but who knows.

Worries me people putting so much faith in Mozer. In all reality, he is probably a good 2 years away minimum.
And that's just making first grade, add another 2 or 3 years until he's developed into a good player (if he gets there).
