Wake up and smell what's cooking: Controlled demolition

I tend to believe it's a mix of all things. We did bumble our way into signing Pies, we also signed the clown Nolan. Our recruitment and retention has been poor, we signed Bird who was injured and ended up playing a fist full of games over three years while taking up a fare amount of cap. We held onto a few older statesmen past their prime and moved on some that we should have kept.

The agenda driven media full of bias has jumped at every opportunity to mess with our RnR, they talk figures, muddy the waters, do whatever they can to disrupt us. Any players indiscretion is over analyzed, in the hope of swaying action at the judiciary. Case and point is Flegs being pointed out for a bumper when our team is not known for it and it actually wasn't even one. Look at Melbourne or the Roosters, every forward leads with a bumper. But no they point us out. The media want us buried for our glory.

The onfield rules have not been changed to bring us down that is bordering on grandiose delusion. Off field ones have been over the years, but there is no refuting it, the cap was designed because we have the most money, the staff cap was also brought in because of us a few years back. The simple answer to our downfall is every team in history hits a slump, it's hard to make the right move all the time, a lot has to work out. We made the wrong moves regarding players and coaches and the media has jumped on the opportunity to keep us at the bottom, they know if they can make a player think twice then we can miss players. Its the media who want us down.

Vlandys wants a new team yes and they will want it to do well, but rusted on Broncos fans will not just move over to the Dolphins. Your either a Man U or Man city not both or one then the other. I will hate them with every ounce of my being. I will give up on the sport before I give up on the Broncos.
You reckon the media has an agenda against the Broncos because of our past success or because Broncos doing poorly generates more clicks?

I am in the same boat with the Broncos, i will stop watching NRL altogether before i switched to support the new Brisbane team.
However, do you think the average casual fan would be willing to jump to the new team? Especially if the Broncos are doing poorly and the new team gets Bennett as coach and players like Munster to sign on with them?

Build an argument from nothing more than your assumptions is the exact opposite of logic. Every point you make has literally no evidence to support it.

NRL sabotaging the Broncos and sacrificing revenue for the 'long game' - zero evidence.
Casual fans will watch new team only if Broncos are losing - baseless assumption
Casual fans have more loyalty to teams, but will only watch 1 game a week - baseless assumption
I didn't bother reading on after the first unsupported supposition but I gather you did. I guessed it was downhill all the way after that.

I didn't feel I had the right to post if I didn't read it but had I done so I feel pretty confident I'd have written the same thing as you.

Its weird, that some people are taking speculative conversation as fact.
This conversation really belongs in the "conspiracy theory" thread.

Mate, I am on this paranoid train with you. I started a conspiracy 101 thread last year as it all started off. IMO it's pretty probable that they want the Broncos shit to introduce a new Brisbane team and then the Broncos will come good again. It's not beyond the realm of belief. I just think it's shitty on the young bucks coming through, but it's also unfair on the fans. Unfortunately, they've also completely ruined the sport. So I am actually shitty that I can't enjoy the sport at all anymore .

What? The press vilifies ANY team losing, the Broncos aren't secretly being targeted. The Broncos dominate a large portion of the NRL viewership and the media exposure is on par with that.

Yeah the NRL is a business, and its in the interest to retain viewership and keep the Broncos STRONG, not weak. Its makes NO SENSE to purposely sabotage your most profitable club, the club that has the highest viewership by far and owns the prime time rating slot most weeks.

There is no evidence what so ever that fans are so loyal to the Brisbane Broncos that they will never embrace a second team in Brisbane without the Broncos somehow being sabotaged. How many clubs currently run out of Sydney?? If a second club starts winning in Brisbane they'll gain fans very fast in a city of near 2 million people.

The Broncos for the first time in their history are losing both on the field and with the fans. The NRL realises there is no redundancy when their major cash cow in Brisbane falters. If the Broncos are losing, the loss in revenue for the NRL cannot be underestimated. Likewise the major networks covering the NRL don't want to lose that audience. They need to offer an alternative if the Broncos aren't performing.

You are on a forum, you don't have exclusive conversations with others or dictate how your crazy theories may be replied to. If you're offended I cant help you, but when you present wild theories without proof they are fair game for criticism.
Ever heard of the Crushers?

You are taking it too literally, its not exactly sabotage, if its orchestrated and in the best interest of the company.

Hell the top dogs at NRL may have even let the Broncos board know this is how it will play out until the new team is established, and then its not only business as usual, its better business as usual.

In fact, a successful second Brisbane team might even benefit the Broncos in the long run as well, in that we would have a local rivalry that would draw record crowds in the same vein as the Roosters/Rabbitohs etc.

As far as broadcasters are concerned, why would channel 9 or fox be upset with this? Its more profit for them as well with an extra, successful team in Brisbane meaning better broadcast deals, more advertising and extra game time per season on air.

All the pieces are there for this to be a viable decision by the NRL for increased profits for the game overall.
They know the Broncos will retain enough of their fanbase no matter how bad it gets to stay a successful club, they just need enough fans to jump to the new team to make it viable as well, and the best way to do that is to disenfranchise the Broncos temporarily .
Exactly. The local derby would be a killer. But also, when Crushers were in SQ, and Titans also, they failed to get as many fans from Brisbane as hoped/desired. As if the NRL would make that mistake again. It's why Perth don't have a team yet. Not enough revenue.

I put money on it that nearly every person on this forum would watch the new Brisbane team play if they were on TV playing a Sydney team.

As for as the NRL, I can't argue with the illogical. You keep pretending there a puppet masters who hate making money sabotaging the Broncos so they don't win a premiership cause the idea of huge audience watching TV and at the game is bad.
I wouldn't. I'm a Broncos fan. Don't watch Titans, don't watch Melbourne, don't watch Cowboys. I don't buy supporter kit from any other club. I don't click news articles about any clubs other than Broncos.

I think they hate us because we came into their league and in short period dominated them and in the process became the richest and highest membered club. They have tried everything else they could to put us in our pace, so this opportunity is to good to miss.

I believe those fans have already moved on, I also believe those fans have had many teams and will never settle in. One day coming back round to us. The Titans being the easy example, that's why if they go the Dolphins the fans and history is there ready to go.

Worth a read regarding tv ratings and Brisbane 2.0 impact

What a conspiracy theory sandwich!

Left out the single one that has merit imo.. That covid came from a lab in Wuhan.. Still think that one has yet to be disproved.

Occams razor is confirming Hanlons razor here btw for those not trapped in an echo chamber, incompetence explains almost everything about the Broncos over the past few years.

Having said that I think the incompetence of the NRL leadership runs deep, pre Vlandys.. not sure yet about him (horrible rule changes but perhaps good work on the financials?) and that may be easily viewed as malice.

None of it matters if true or not to be honest, whichever side you are in, this sport is dying and to be frank, needs the Broncos to be successful to have any hope of reviving.
I dont think the thread was ever seriously about any truth. Just speculation around the possible reasons for the collapse of the Broncos coinciding with the new Brisbane team.

It could all be down to pure incompetence which as i said earlier is far worse than if this has in any way been orchestrated to ease in the transition of a second Brisbane team.

I can understand a business doing what needs to be done to make a profit, i cannot understand incompetence to the level the Broncos have shown over the past 4 years.

We would not be living this hell if WB had stayed.

To whom do you refer?

I'm sure it cannot be me as the quotation of my words clearly shows. I called it 'unsupported supposition' and definitely didn't treat it as 'fact' . I do agree it truly belongs in the conspiracy thread.

Im referring to people in this thread that get upset with others for speculating on why the Broncos find themselves in the position they are in.
It seems perfectly normal to me to explore reasons why things have happened the way they have.
Be it incompetence or something more.

How could you not question it? We went from the premier club of the competition to the spooners in a window of 5 years.
Any fan worth their salt would naturally question what has occurred that has led to this.

No people get 'upset' when the theories are so baseless as to be comical. I could say the NRL has a secret space program and it would literally have as much credibility as this theory.

This is classic conspiracy nonsense, its almost cliche. It's the idea that events past and future are driven by some hidden human hand who can for see the future outcome of their decisions. Im sorry, but you give humans way too much credit. The best we can do is plan for a possible future based on the evidence we have available.

And anecdotal comments like 'I will never watch another team ever' on a Broncos forum, completely irrelevant. It is has no baring on how the larger populations view of the team.

The sucker that i am, i will reply.

Its your opinion that these theories are comical or baseless, and you are welcome to that opinion without ridicule.
Afford others the same courtesy.
We entertain the possibility that there is more at play, not a certainty.
There is more than one person here that believes there is the potential for these theories to play out the way they have, so while they may be comical to you, to others, they are unlikely, but possible, and we explore that.

Several posters have tried to explain to you, that there is enough information to consider that there is potentially an agenda at play to assist a second club getting off the ground in Brisbane.

No one is saying there is concrete evidence of this happening, its just talk.
But you have felt the need to shit all over it because you find it "comical".
