NEWS Why Haas Rejected 6m Offer

So the excuse put up by SBW/Nasser/Mundine/Roosters and promoted by Wiedler is Haas is worth we’ll over. Million dollars on the open market and therefore the Broncos should pay him that now. So when we don’t they will use that as the reason for Haas’ agent agitating for a move. What’ s the bets that as soon as he signs for the Roosters it will be reported as an $700K deal as he took the pay cut to play for a team that can win the comp. Nothing will be said of him being worth a million on the open market though And the Roosters will again be left to do as they please. It’s worse than fuckin criminal because at least the police catch the crimes from time to time, whereas the Rorters keep rooting the system year after year and nothing is done.

Want the noise to stop? Win games.

They are writing the articles because they know you're clicking on them.

Haas is driving this. Irrelevant of the team and position on ladder. His ethos and style doesn't fit the club culture anymore, he wants to be a big boy at the roosters and live a certain way. The people surrounding him at the moment are ones of being self centered and a certain style of business. Their records says all you need to know about how this will unfold.

I gave you the sauce last week!

My Sydney sauce hasn't let me down yet. I'm betting my house this goes sideways very quickly.
To which side?

Also post a pic of the house we're getting.

If you wanted any further confirmation of NRL bias, look no further.

Imagine if the Rorters, Storm, Penriff etc had landed Haas, like the Broncos have, on a deal that most think is reasonable (in the clubs favour).
The media would be applauding the culture of those clubs, their recruitment/board etc for being able to retain talent for ‘unders’ or in this case market value...
There’d be no further discussions/articles/speculation.

Its amazing that we are even having such discussions around Haas. He is contracted until 2024 ffs.
We took a punt on him many years ago now. We gave him (at the time) a rather lengthy contract, that was on big money for someone who wasn’t proven at this level.
Now if you look at some other players, lets take Paps at the Storm for instance, he is probably on unders and that is because Melbourne seem To be able to do that. Much like the Roosters have and continually do. Cronk anyone?
But the Broncos? Oh no, that’s not allowed.
It’s absolute BS.

From here, do we now just now say player x is playing well, he signed a contract 2yrs ago, but I think he is now worth x amount more, start ringing every media outlet in Australia and see if we can get him out of his contract?
The NRL no doubt need to clean this the **** up.
We had Milford stinking it up for many years on a million dollars. We got nothing out of that other then a fucked cap and lessons learnt.
We FINALLY do some smart business/recruiting with Haas and its somehow being flipped upside down and making the Broncos look like the bad guys.

This is a win/win for the media, no doubt. They get to either write stories on the Broncos having to pay overs to retain Haas or they get to write articles saying that the Broncos are broken because Haas wants out/can’t keep players blah blah.

Personally, I’d love nothing more then DD or Ikin to front 360 tonight and hose all this down.
Make It very clear there will be no early release, let the world know we aren’t backing down on this one and if need be, Haas can sit in cup.
Sure it would be very reactive by the club, but I‘d love to see it.

What needs to be weighed up in the back office is who do we want to keep.

Our squad is currently stacked with support players on big money.

Haas is already on a good deal, but we've got Carrigan (who looks loyal), Flegler, Willison, TC, Kobe, Riki, Piakura, Te Kura and Capewell as other guys looking to get a run.

We need to figure out what make up we want across our squad and decide who stays and who guys.

I've added Piakura to the above, because whilst Riki is doing a job for us on the edge I actually think he could play middle as well anyway... TC can play middle and edge, etc.

If we decide Haas is our man and we upgrade him only for him to leave in 2025, then maybe we end up losing some of Te Kura, Willison and/or TC in the meantime, because Haas is a roadblock on them financially and in terms of gametime.

If I'm the Broncos I am going to the NRL and letting it be known that we're not happy about the apparent conspiring taking place by the roosters to get Haas to break his contract 3yr out... if they stand back and do nothing about it only for Haas to be released then we will look to leak everything we know about how the deal went down.

If he gets released we make sure we ain't paying shit of his current deal and load up on other players, whilst Petey B and News write column upon column associated with how the deal went down.

We dont need to say anything publically and look pretty... we can do it through the backdoor via Brisbane media connections.

And every time we re-sign a player drop a hint about locking one away from the vulture clubs down south

Mate the Broncos are in control; if he leaves it is because the Broncos released him. You speak as if there is some external force going to release him.

If a player says they want out, they usually get released don't they?

When was the last Haas level player to gain a release?

1a) Hodges to Roosters
1b) Hodges back to Broncos
2) Klemmer left Dogs for Kinghts with a year to go.
3)Mitch Moses - Tigers to Parra
4)SBW - tantrum.
5)Boyds - Knights to Broncos
6)Inglis - was a 3way mess TBH, so not sure if counts as walking away, but left Melb and Broncs high and dry.
7)Watmough - Manly to Parra, think he had 2 years left.
8)Matterson walked for Parra. (unsure how long remained)
9)Roberts, alleged error in paperwork.
10)Hayne/Holmes NFL (both apparently had clauses to return to club)

In some ways, there is honestly a part of me that kind of wants to see this happen because of a few reasons:

1. If it goes down, it won't just be our club up in arms, this has the potential to unite all the clubs against the Roosters if it is allowed to happen
2. It is probably better for the Broncos in the long run because as good as he is (and he is great), no prop is worth a million dollars and so while it would suck, it would be better for our salary cap and we have the kids coming through to share the load of replacing him
3. If it does happen and the media praises it, the NRL will become an absolute free for all and quite possibly destroy itself and need to be taken over by administrators who might finally be able to make the massive decisions that are currently hamstrung by the influential old boys running the game
4. It will expose the hypocrisy of having a Roosters' old boy as salary cap auditor (I genuinely cannot believe this is considered ok)
5. We might say screw it and finally use out financial clout to go after anyone and everyone we want and say screw you to the salary cap like the good clubs do.
6. The salary cap might finally either disappear or finally be tightened and corrected if number 3 happens.

I fucking despise how one of our best players is surrounded by people who are in league with the Roosters.
This is some scummy shit that it is making me want to cut ties with Haas based on that alone.

Lock Red Hill down like a fortress to anyone who doesnt have the clubs best interest at heart and if you break the rules, you cop a huge in-house fine and your picture up on the traitors wall of shame in the dressing room for a month.
Get back to the "us vs them" mentality and **** playing nice.
Put Haas in Qcup till his contract is up, then pack his bags and send him on his way never to return and blacklist him and anyone else who think they are bigger than the club.

If what is being reported is true, and this is all being pushed by Haas and his Roosters cronies, then this is where i hope Donuts draws a line in the sand and sets a massive example out of Haas with a clear warning to anyone else who wants to play hardball.

You don't want that- Broncos would have 12 players they don't want.
Hi mate, you seem to have the most inside knowledge on here, I am interested in your views (and ir you are unable to say anything I understand) but what is the general feeling about Kev's coaching ability and how he stacks up to other NRL coaches. Is his public persona markedly different from what he is like in house when coaching and dealing with players?

Hodges wasn't released by the Broncos.

SBW sat out the length of his Dogs contract and didn't play in the NRL until it was done and had to pay a release fee.

Inglis is a bit different Storm had to shed players no matter what, they weren't allowed to take pay cuts like the Dogs were.

Holmes wasn't allowed to play for anyone other than the Sharks until after 2019.

Shubert hasn't been the auditor since 2013.
