NEWS Why Haas Rejected 6m Offer

He has a contract for the next 3 years. Let Weedler write all he wants about him. Unless Haas' form drops off the planet, we shouldnt be worrying about this for the next 2 years. Need to focus on making the club stronger both on the field and internally with good results then we can deal with Haas.

I don't believe a single thing any one of those flogs has to say and/or write, go watch NRL 360 from a year ago, it's hilarious how wrong they ended up being on multiple fronts.

Kent was there at one stage "DCE to Brisbane is what I am hearing".. yeah, good one, flog.

Whether Haas goes or stays, it's not that big of a deal. He is an incredible player but it's not like he is irreplaceable. We need to spend a million dollars a year on a 1,6,7 or a 9.

Haas is the best forward in the game, but if the club thinks he's serious about going to the rorters then I'd be throwing the money we had planned for Haas and everything we have left in the cap at Grant.

The storm have a very bad forward pack but are still going to be top 4 on the back of their spine. We need to land some guns in the spine desperately and Grant + Walsh are the best options on the market rn

100% this.

If releasing Haas means we gain a Grant/Manu, I'm all for it. If it's just to save money for a star that may or may not sign with us, nope, he's here till 2024.

The next player we throw the bank at has to be a hooker or a fullback, it just has to be.

Manu looks like more of a centre to me.

You might need a showroom full of Mercedes to get him to leave that club.
Or a million dollars. I think he's worth the risk though, or Grant. They're the only two players I think are worth the risk to throw bulk dollars at. Can we compete with billionaire owners golf games? Probably not.

Here's an idea. What if our Management team grew some and came out and said the media insinuation about a CONTRACTED PLAYER is illegal. And even better if PvL came out and said it wont stand and they will not register any contract accordingly.

I still hold hope its all a storm in a teacup but SBW+Wiedler+Nasser is never a good combination

But its not illegal.

It is illegal to induce a player to break a contract, surely.
Why would it be illegal? The Roosters don't have any contractual obligation to not poach our players, it happens in the corporate world every day. Even if it was, zero way to prove it, so it'd be toothless legislation.

Remember we signed our CEO while he was under a non-compete clause...

But this isn't the business world is it. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't illegal but if this does go down, it is open slather on every single player in the league at all times. No point having any contract whatsoever.

You can't talk to a player about the years he is under contract. Anyone can talk to Payne about '25 and beyond but they can't talk to him about '22, '23 or '24. He can't sign anything until end of '24 to go somewhere else.

There is conjecture every season about a player not being happy and wanting out- Raiders have it every week.

Cowboys have just had it about JT13 for 12 months and he's still got six years on his deal. DCE was unhappy at Manly and wanting out of his deal.

Munster wanted out last week and is there until '24.

Of course they won't register a contract, he has a contract until end of '24. That doesn't even need to be said.

It is.

I dont think its illegal though to convince a player he is very unhappy where he is and another city, Sydney for example might make him happier. Unhappy players might want a move.

Any of those guys hang around other club influences at the time?
