His business is also well dodgy.

Nothing dodgy about the news company that came up with that either [icon_shady

And despite the supposed controversy about him living in Vancouver - he does actually own a home in Melbourne. Basically he and his brother moved to Australia when he was 15 cause Canada were being jerks and he decided he wanted to ski for Australia. He didn't compete for 3 years until his citizenship (not residency) came through.

And re his business - it has nothing to do with his sport accomplishments (apart from the fact that IMO it shows he is in the sport cause he loves it and it's really what he wants to do - not for any kind of financial gain, cause he's already a billionaire). While people may find it annoying - his business is completely legal, so I really don't care. But it's probably a big reason why he isn't so forthcoming with the media - after he won Gold in Torino, all the so-called sports journalists just wanted to ask critical questions and comments about his business and not so much about that he'd just won Gold for Australia, so I'm really not surprised he doesn't really like to give them the time of day.

And yep what Jeb said about he always stays with the team in cheap and sometimes dodgy accommodation and travels economy with the team despite being able to upgrade himself.

I have heard nothing but really really good things about him from people who know him and I also agree with Jeb that he seems like a really down to earth, lovely bloke. I'd actually like to meet him one day.

If he is a billionaire then why doesn't he just upgrade his entire team? Selfish prick.

Well people would probably find a way to make that a bad thing if he did that as well.

You don't get rich spending money.

Shaun White is a freak! That was amazing what he just did in the Halfpipe.

Damn straight Gymp - WOW, just WOW!!! I am speechless about that.

I loved that he didn't just rest on his winning opening run and came out and bettered it with some of the craziest tricks I have ever seen. WOW.

When are they going to introduce skateboarding into the summer olympics?

Oh yeah, that's right, summer olympics has serious sports in it.

I don't get why some sports (ie. Luge or Slalom Skiiing) they get 2 or 4 runs and have an accumulated time but arguably the best event, the Downhill, they get one go.

I understand that it's about performing under pressure for one and a half minutes every 4 years blah blah blah but seriously, who wouldn't want to see them go down a second time at least?

Agree. Especially if you make a single mistake that ***** everything up. I don't see the problem with 2 runs.

Oh yeah - but he had nothing to lose. Even if he completely wiped out in his second run he would have won the GOLD based on his first run. But was just awesome to watch just the same - he was only 1.5 points off "perfect"

Yep that Shaun White was bloody awesome he must be the most talented ranga I have ever seen!
