How would that work in practice? I don't think he or the Titans are going to go yep, here have another year and then you can back home.

This is my point, I think teams are going to be wary of signing guys to one year extensions, especially someone is quite sought after. Additionally, he wants to come home now, who is to say the Dolphins won't jump in next year with a massive offer we can't compete with?
If he wants to come home and is willing to take a pay cut to not jeopardise our other re-signings, you do it now, you don't wait 12 months.

Don’t turn this into something it’s not. Fifita is all about the money so was never going to take the pay cut to come back here.

It was never going to happen unless he was willing to take a big haircut, which he obviously isn’t willing to do. We haven’t spent the last 3 years digging ourselves out of a hole created by spending too much of our cap on the forward pack to then go & repeat the same mistakes.
