Your 2013 team.

Basically, he played in the middle a bit but he's much more effective on the fringes.

J. Wallace looked decent on debut & Frei can cover the entire forward pack.

Molo, Coombe & Alvaro will be in the mix.

No doubt he's been better for the move up north; an absolute revelation out wide. I can't see a scenario where he would have been playing anywhere but through the middle had he stayed here. IIRC he spent most of his time up front in TC? Not sure if that was just developmental though - he was just too big, too strong down there.

Sorry m1c, I should have been clearer - I was actually responding to the question about Gibb.

Tariq was versatile and could play through the middle or the fringes. Watching his evolution in NYC was fantastic, from this timid skinny wannabe back to a Dave Taylor sized beast of a man who always had the habit of breaking the line.

When he won the NYC Player of the Year award he was a prop but him and Lingwoodock (a damn fine player who just had terrible luck with injuries) would swap positions all the time.

His partner Clayton was also recognised in that team, solid player who I believe is with Wynnum as we speak.

We're a team, we work together and we do what we're told.

And Hoffman and Norman just disappear into the ether?

I'd almost go as far to say the fullback role has taken over some of the responsibilities centres or locks had. One of the biggest differences today and say the 80s is just how flat the players stand these days. In the 80s, the backline could almost be 20m+ behind the play which would enable the centres to act like playmakers if need be which is why Kenny, Daley & Fittler were so effective in their roles. In modern times, the only position that really provides shape and depth is fullback. They've virtually taken that role from the centres of the past which is why you're seeing more halves (Lockyer, Hornby, Bowen, Barba, Coote, Dugan etc.) go back and forth between the positions. Believe it or not, there was even talks of Hoffman wanting to play five eigth earlier this year!

As m1c pointed out, there's a lot of complexities involved at centre which require specialist training and I just don't think it's worth it. Centre is a bloody difficult position to stand out in attack (running good lines, timing runs, setting up outside men, covering your wing for a bomb, defensive decisions etc.) and I just don't think Norman will pick up on all of them.

I really don't think Norman has that great a running game to begin with. Decent foot-work, scored a good-try against the Cows but that was virtually it.

As far as the bench, there's plenty of ways to skin the cat or so to speak. I would just rather we blood another prop because our backrow stocks are good as is and one more could lead to too many chefs in the kitchen (which it did at times this year). Props need more attention too, after Hannant & McGuire it gets a bit ugly.

Fair enough Big Pete you make a good arguement with regards to the centres and I respect that even if I don't necessarily agree with it and with regards to the bench yes we can have room for another prop that makes sense though I don't think it gets super ugly as some make it out to be as both Parker and Hala are upto the task and Dodds is solid enough to be there, I know some will say well Parker plays like that from lock but theres no reason when Gillett or another backrower comes on that he cant be shifted into the frontrow to give Hannant or McGuire a rest.

1. Bond/Hoffman (Completely on trial form, Hoffman has not earned the right to retain this spot)
2. Maranta (Yow Yeh once fully fit)
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Copley
6. Wallace
7. Prince
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Hannant
11. Thaiday
12. Glenn
13. Parker

14. Gillett
15. Hala
16. Dodds
17. Norman (sub for Macca only in emergency, I want them using him in a roving second row/lock type role. I think he will look far better with less and less responsibility, just tell him to find holes and play a bit off the cuff. He looks like a lost puppy when you try and structure him)

Anyone who believes Bond would start round 1 over Hoffman or Norman is kidding themselves.

m1c my team isn't what I expect it is what I hope for. As for Hoffman that piece of sh1t can get f#cked, anyone who admits to not putting in has no place in the Brisbane Broncos first grade side.

I'm actually also warming to giving Maranta a shot at fullback. But with Prince in the side ahead of Norman, I don't think Hoffman's massive flaws would be highlighted quite as much...unless Prince plays like he did in 2011.

So you've never slacked off on the job?

Yep, didn't think so.

Sure, I have on occasions. But I don't have thousands of people rearranging their week and paying plenty of money to come watch me sit in my office

Be surprised to see Yow Yeh coming back in 2013 .......maybe late

Hoffman will need to show he is committed, early. If not..... it kinda has to be Norman at fullback and ole Pete gets to worm his way back into the starting line up.

Been reading some of your posts on Wallace, Fourex. It's quite interesting with the hate you have against him. Talking about how the forwards were the reason why Brisbane were winning games in the early rounds of the competition etc.

stagg into #16/#17 and our bench is looking a lot more solid/reliable

So you've never slacked off on the job?

Yep, didn't think so.

Did you read the bit about "Brisbane Broncos First Grade Side"? This is the best run and most successful RL team in the country over the last 20 years. I expect high standards from the players who wear the jersey because I like thousands of others pay good money to watch them play over the years. To have one of these guys admit to not putting in means as far as I am concerned he has no respect for the players around him, no respect for the staff and no respect for the fans. What I do or do not do in my job is completely irrelevant, you are one of those d1ckheads that goes around saying you have never played first grade so you can't criticise footy players aren't you?
