Also, Kemp is dropped for Whitchurch and Reed will return from injury. What the hell is going on!

On a positive note, Maranta will likely be dropped.

Wow.

I think Wallace to hooker is an excellent move. Hope Whitchurch does well.

Oh man now I don't get to see Kemp play :(

Some really interesting changes there, Griffin is for once showing he can take some risks and not be so boring and conservative.

Wallace to hooker is something a lot of people have been calling for if only to get Macca out of that position and to free up the halves so Hunt can play. It also allows us to keep Granville on the bench which is nice.

Reed as usual is coming back way earlier than expected from an injury and him pushing out Maranta is a good thing. It's going to be interesting to see how these changes pan out.

Hoffman ahead of Kahu at centre is a bit of a surprise considering Kahu's runs have come from filling in at centre most of the season.

Will be interesting to see more of McCollough in the backrow, if this spine was to do well and he had a decent enough game at backrow perhaps consider him on the bench as the utility when at fullstrength? Doubtful that would happen cause we will just revert back to our safety selections when we are.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Hook obviously saw the writing on the wall with the team he announced on Tuesday and decided to shake things up. Macca to the backrow with Wallace at hooker and Whitchurch in for Kemp are both big changes.

I expect there to be a lot of backlash with the latter but I'm fine with it for two reasons. I honestly believe Whitchurch suits the game and gameplan better. Brisbane are really lacking some quality forwards and would struggle to gain territory with the side they named - by drafting in a unit like Whitchurch they've brought in a guy who can really bend the defensive line. Defensively I'm not confident, but I wasn't confident in Kemp either.

Kemp has a fan following but let's be honest here, Denan was close to calling it quits and hasn't played first grade in years. Preferring youth over experienced is typically a move fans appreciate, unfortunately I don't think this will be the case.

Reed is a nice in. Sures up our defence on one side and his runs from our end will be a strong asset.

Okay, so why was Kemp signed if he was going to be 7th choice winger?

I'm actually optimistic about seeing this. Obviously giving Hunt another game in the halves is nice. Granville on the bench is also nice. McCullough adding some ball playing in the back row would be interesting. And hopefully Wallace is just a sharper passer than McCullough.

It's interesting how they didn't put Hunt at hooker and Wallace would stay in the halves. That's what they've mostly been playing. I wonder why?

Maybe Hook saw something with Hunt the last 2 weeks and wants to see more of it.

Or he wants to try someone other than Macca in the 9 and this allows him to do that and keep Hunt in the halves too.
