Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

They weren't a rubbish side.

They were a team on the up and he basically stagnated them until Bird saved the day. Once Bird left for the Titans, the only thing Kevie won was the wooden spoon.

Real Broncos material right there.

But he's better than Griffin just because the pessim...'realists' on here say so!! Facts don't matter!!

yes because you're the one who knows all on here i forgot

NRL Premiership | The Lurker - NRL Rumour File - Friday Bennett kev rumours are back. Pray they are true. Will finally get my enthusiasm back

that "article" is a load of horse shit (as is the majority of stuff you read on sportal) - assuming that the minute things go pear shaped in Newcastle WB has a job waiting for him in BRisbane ... getting Bennett back to the Broncos involves two parties - Bennett and the Broncos ....

3-1 start to the season and should really be 4-0, sack Hook now. Its just not good enough!

Sorry mate, the posts asking for Hook's head have been justified after the dysmal 2013 season, and while we're going well, and playing good footy, this post is just provocative...

So new arguments/points/facts aren't welcome? Well let's all get back to that Gillett to QCup thread based on last years performance.

edit: only read the first bit, of sprojs comment. But there are far more provocative posts on this forum at the moment.

Porthoz, I find your avatar provocative..

As far as Griff, well he's earned a reprieve from me for the moment. I was one of his most vocal detractors last year, and I stand by my comments made at that time. The success this season to date has got me holding my tongue - we will see what happens as the very long season goes on.

I hope he comes good, I really do - and maybe he will. Time will tell...

the signs are promising this year so far (but not to get ahead of ourselves) and if he has learnt from the mistakes of last year, then that will be a good thing. IMO, regardless of whether we decide to go a different direction in 2015, Griffin should remain head coach for the whole season.

I have stopped myself posting in this thread for the last few weeks, because it seems like banging my head against a brick wall would get the same result. I feel that even if we win every game for the remainder of the year by 20+, including the GF (and yes i know that won't happen, it is a hypothetical people) we will still hear calls for Griffin to be sacked because we didn't win every game by 50+ and that the players did it themselves and Griffin had no hand it in

She's hot... ridiculously so in that top!

That's exactly what I think regarding Griffin. We all wanted a number of things to happen that are actually happening, and as much as Griffin is responsible for last season, he also deserves credit for what the team has shown so far this one.

There are still flaws, but I'm loving the team dynamics. And we have a spine that can only improve a lot once Barba gets rid of the niggles and Hoffman or hopefully Kahu start to build a good combination with Hunt, Macca and Barba. Our defense albeit patchy at times (and Reed really needs to get his act together, or Hoffman should take his spot once Kahu comes back in) is much better than last season, especially where we used to be soft: right in through the middle, and our goal line defense has improved ten fold.

If we're gonna blame Griffin for holding players back, let's also credit him with the gigantic improvement by guys like Macca, Thaiday and last but not least... Maranta!

Balance people, that what we need. We aren't title contenders yet, and it could all go pear-shaped, but we are certainly one of the better teams out there at this point, and as a Broncos fan, I'm loving it!

I'm loving it too, and I do think we are title contenders based on what's on show at the moment but certainly not with Hoffman at 5/8 on his present showing, and not unless we stop hoping on Barba pulling rabbits out of the hat rather than Griffin building some constructive set plays with Barba and Hunt and (gasp) Hoffman and Barba.

As I keep saying, there is so much to learn from watching how Bellamy uses Slater

Could be completely wrong in hindsight but we may be in for another 2011, only we've finally adapted to (I hate this phrase) life without Lockyer.

2012 started off really flashy, heaps of linebreaks and arsey tries via Norman. We still sucked in the opposition 20 when you could literally see Wallace weighing up his options with ball in hand and from Round 20 onwards we had nothing.

There's some real intent about the way we're playing and it's not just the player's fitness - Griffin has things in motion.

Porthoz, I realize the post was provocative and sorry about that. Balance is vital, I just get a little frustrated with the one-sidedness against Hook at times. He has made mistakes sure but he is doing everything he can to rectify them and I just few that since he has been baagged from pillar to post, he has earned the right to be defended a little.
