Shoulder charge rule

What they did or didn't do to Ennis makes no difference and it should have had no bearing on Wighton's hearing.

That's the most ridiculous logic I have heard. "Oh yes your honour I did murder him, but there are plenty of murderers that have never been charged so you have no choice but to find me not guilty".
As much as the NRL want to make the MRC judiciary sound like a legal entity it remains completely outside the law of Australia or common sense.

Wow, this is unbelievable.

Both Ennis and Wighton's 'tackles' were clear-cut shoulder charges.

Honestly, I knew the MRC were fucking hopeless, but this dangerous inconsistency in their rulings wreaks of corruption. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but this is just unfathomable. Combine it with the standard of refereeing this season and... well... I just don't even have the words.

You can't have one decision for one team and then another for a different team - I wonder if we were weren't heading into the finals, would the decision be different?

I am astounded.

Cmon man you are better than this. Of course it has a bearing.

Just to make my position on this clearer, they were both illegal tackles by the rules and what I hate more than anything is when it is obvious that someone has broken those rules and does not get charged for it. All we ask for is some bloody common sense and consistency - we wouldn't even have this thread if they could do their bloody jobs

Don't even get me started on Gallen the shitcunt teeing off on Wighton to influence the result - he can go **** himself. Between this and Fifita's bullshit whatever goodwill I had for the Sharks is gone.

Of course it does. And that's the damned issue. The guy shoulder charged someone, and should be sitting out, no matter what else happened on the field. It's the exact problem with this useless judicary. THey have a set of rules, and apply them however, whenever, and for whoever they want.

Well it's not meant to, I read something earlier in the week that they couldn't use that as a defence as they judiciary wouldn't consider it.

As long as one of our players gets a free pass for something from this point on I couldn't give a shit. But whether that happens is a different thing.

I'm beyond the point of caring about the judiciary at this point.

Does the entire process need an overhaul? Yes. Are there some awful implications being made by the MRC and Judiciary (that the death of James Ackerman was in vain) yes, but at the end of the day, this negative emotion can be spent in the off-season.

I don't agree with any of it, but I'll turn a blind eye and enjoy Saturday's clash. Life's too short to get hung up about these decisions you can't control.

Guess regardless of how many fans whine and complain either way the shit is going to happen regardless.

Someone will always feel hard done by. Democracy is funny that way.

I've said it before and I'll say it again now ...

The Judiciary needs to get rid of the ex-players on the panel and become a professional, independent entity.

From a Grade 2 shoulder charge to nothing...not even downgraded...just nothing to see here...completely innocent...move along.

Yeah it sucks. We could write a letter.

Wighton is such a dumb ****. He would have an IQ of 50 I reckon.

And that is the problem with the NRL in a nutshell, no accountability and no expectation of professionalism or fairness because this game would be better run by an inanimate Carbon Rod.
