That may be true but we'd probably have to consider that Milford himself decided to kick back a bit because all his financial needs were covered. Considering he had more money guaranteed than most of us make in a lifetime. I'd have to think his own attitude played a part.

Sorry mate, I don't share your cynicism. We bought him after all, then coached his game out of him. Balance please

Milf was hit by the perfect storm. He was hammered and lost confidence, he never won the premiership he should have and almost on his own won. He came to a club that was totally wrong for him because they wanted him to become something he wasn’t. He needed a drill Sargent, he got a soft grandpa figure. He got money he hadn’t earned. He is lazy. He isn’t competitive. He’s timid and he doesn’t care if he wins or loses. He isn’t smart enough to learn and his assets were coached out of him. All he had was potential and speed. Now he has lost both and has nothing to replace it other than a semi-decent kicking game. Sad.

Oh, I thought that WAS balanced! So, I have to assume you think Milfs attitude is fine and has been but others are to blame? I thought he has been given licence on several occasions to play his natural game🤔

Is at Dolphins, but always injured. He only played four games last year. I think he's sorting himself out slowly and doing a lot community work and school visits now helping young players learn that coke isn't a good call and bribery doesn't do you any good.

Ill respectfully disagree with him on those last 2 points.

Nope, not balanced at all, just you speculating from a personal agenda against Milf driven maybe by anger and disappointment. I don't think you saying "Milford himself decided to kick back a bit because all his financial needs were covered" is true, or relevant here. The fact he makes more dosh than any of us make in a lifetime is also irrelevant in the context you frame it. What's that got to do with anything? That he makes a lot money, yes. Does his form atm warrant it? No. but so what he makes more than me or you? What's that got to do with his attitude, other than your desire to punish him.

Balance please

Okay, fair enough. I should have said we might consider that 'Milford MAY HAVE felt safe and cosy financially' and decided to kick back. I did state he did feel that way and that was the wrong thing to declare. It's definitely a possibility and could easily be considered a reasonable human response.

It isn't because I don't rate him as I have said many times he is talented. It's not unreasonable to say his perceived comfort and apparent unmotivated efforts at times COULD be because he feels secure and unchallenged. I just don't believe his poor form and lazy efforts are due solely to poor coaching. That's a better balanced response.

I really do think this is part of Milfords mindset. Look for him to have a much better year next year in what could be his final big contract year. A club like the dogs or Titans with throw more big money his way and he will fade-away again.

He was even better in the first half of the 2016 season and then something happened I think it was against the sharks they targeted him relentlessly, he went into his shell and never recovered. You see it happen often, these stars come through with all the talent in the world after the first couple seasons teams watch tapes on them learn their tendencies and it’s only the mentally tough ones that come out the other end.
Milford’s lost, he never had to think his way through a game, never had to play chess out there setting plays in motion three sets earlier and with a forward pack that’s getting utterly dominated his running game doesn’t have a chance.
To me he went downhill when he missed out on origin selection... looked like he dropped his bundle after that.

Then later in the year he injured his shoulder and lost the next preseason to surgery and rehab... rinse and repeat the next year, except his form wasn't anywhere near as good, Bhunt was on the way out and he was given a $4m contract with an unlimited maccas card... oh and they also decided to turn him into a halfback.. without any preseasons

I still enjoy watching reruns of BHunt in 14 and 15, and with Milford in 15 and 16. What could have been

Has anyone heard anything about Sean O'Sullivan's recovery? I liked what little we've seen of him in first grade and he's a half I'd be happy to see thrown back in soon.

Even if he was fit I just can't see how he can get a run recovering from an ACL with no reserve grade.

I also think he's just a middle of the road half with average speed (at best) and a poor long kicking game, so even if he was 100% healthy I don't think he can change our fortunes

You're probably right but maybe we should still give him a run at some stage to blood him for next year. After all this season is now a write off and we should start looking to prepare some of our fringe players for next year.

But, why blood him now, when we are in deep shit, for next year when he appears to be on the whole, average, and we have 2 good halves in Dearden and Paix waiting for a shot. I'd rather focus on trying to build some combinations in the spine now, however daunting that tasks is at the moment.

He also got fat, lazy and forgot how to hold onto a ball for a while. The Broncos asked him to kick the ball every once in a while and he got pretty good at that but stopped running. If you can prove someone asked him to stop running and backing up our forwards then I’ll drop it, but it was age and laziness that stopped him from being that player.

The only thing I would say about that I believe SOS is off contract at the end of this year... so he may not even be in the plans thinking moving forward.

I doubt that a single player in our roster has shown a consistent resilience, and played to form as we have steadily declined since 2015. Singling out Milford for mine misses the real point of what has, and is happening. It's probably because we expect so much from him. I do get that. The bigger picture is what worries me a lot more than Milford's individual performances

He also seems to lack any competitive nature, if there is a loose ball there are 25 players on the field who jump on it before Milford.

Signs were bad when he used to get tackled and held down and he preferred to complain and wave his arms to the ref before providing his team mates a quick play the ball, that shit needed to be addressed with him and rubbed out of his game.
