Pretty sure this has been gone over like, a million times, but we did offer Smith a contract. I think Wayne even had him over for dinner to make the proposition. He saw a better pathway to first grade at the Storm so turned us down. After the success and boats down there, we've never been able to budge him.

From head coach at the Broncos to an "advisory role" at the Knights lol that's about the sort of demotion that he deserved.
 
I'm wondering what anybody sees in the guy. Seems crazy to me.. but then again the Warriors signed Nathan Brown as a coach so clearly there is a lot I don't understand about RL.

There’s only about 4 decent NRL coaches and about 5 decent assistant coaches so if you make it to that level you just join the musical chairs of the guys who make up the numbers.

I find this interesting. It looks to me like the role is really better described as a manager, rather than a coach, which might explain why WB has such great longevity in the game, he's a skilled manager and capable or bringing in people smarter than him at the tactical stuff.

To do that, you have to be aware of where your strengths and especially limitation lie, unfortunately, the idiot who ran this team into the ground and broke our gun kids clearly didn't know how to identify either.

Yep, this is Bennett's biggest strength. He's not a tactical master mind, so he knows who to hire to make up his weakness and he's a phenomenal man manager.

I think he'd be a perfect head of football. He would bring us the best players on better deals, and he'd chat to the players and make sure they're looked after and happy, and a second set of ears for Walters to bounce off ideas.

I hope Dave can convince the board it has to be done when he comes on board as CEO because **** Bellamy, he's just playing the club for a better deal at Melbourne.

Imagine if that happens though. The last 2 and a half years would have just been a massive waste of time because it’s exactly what should have happened.

Also I don’t want to hear bullshit about Bennett being offered that job already. The board wanted power and wanted him gone entirely

Meh whatever, it's better to try to fix things than to stubbornly go forward with a disastrous decision.

The best thing they can do is admit they fucked up and they're not as smart as they thought. Oh man I'd wish this board would **** off. If only we had owners that actually cared about our success instead of us just being a media tool for news corp.

The board is a massive shit stain on the club and looks like theyre not going anytime soon....factions in the playing group apparently and a couple are now gone but still got oates glenn and tpj and offa.....so a "captain' they tried to offload and a few sooks.... Ffs souths offloaded roberts but we cant do the same....good luck to kev to try get these ***** working together as a team.....carrigan haas and farnworth are the only blokes worthy of the jersey ...the others looking for better deals elsewhere....go....**** off
