dumb halves or fatigue making them go away from the plan?
Mate seriously, it appears evident the club made the staffer who was responsible for tying these blokes shoe laces and turning the pages on their weekly illustrative, pop-up play book redundant due to covid.

It’s the only logical explanation as to how most of the 17 blokes run around week after week, making consistently stupid and fundamental errors and looking like they’ve never seen the bloke standing next to them.

I think they're just idiots. They just have no comprehension of following a game plan. That's why maybe someone like A Reynolds would be a quality signing, he is robotic and follows a gameplan. **** we could do with a couple of robots at the moment.

also can someone clarify this for me as I was a bit inebriated watching the game (seems to be a prereq lately in order to watch), but did bullemor only come on in the 60th, and kennedy in the 67th?

if so that's fucking atrocious bench management by walters, we would crucify seibold for that...
Yeah bullemore came on after 60 and took cardigan off. Then we did well haha

While I agree with this in the most part I don't think we are in the same position the Titans were 12 months ago.

A key difference is that they actually had leaders at the club (i.e Proctor, Wallace, James). On top of that they actually had okay spine players who just hadn't stepped up, either due to lack of confidence (Taylor) or lack of opportunity (Brimson). Hooker is still a work in progress but Holbrook did take a chance on Fogarty and it's paid off. He's not the most talented half but he's got the qualities that compliment Taylor's game and importantly, he's a leader.

Our leadership group is a country mile off where it needs to be because we gutted the experienced players out to make room for our young talent (which is ironically now being raided by rival clubs). I don't think this is a matter of getting the old boys back involved with the club as it is about getting the right characters wearing the jersey.

If I'm in recruitment right now and surveying blokes for 2022 I'd be looking at the likes of Reynolds, Finucane, Sironen, Capewell, Ferguson, Tevaga, SJ, Hopoate etc. Depending on the prices etc I think grabbing any of these blokes would be a step in the right direction even if they're no better on paper than what we currently have in that respective position. If it costs us an entitled young talented kid then so be it but right now we need blokes that will put 110% in for 80min and lift the standards in the dressing room.

I agree with you and @lynx000. I would however throw money at a leader/organiser as I keep ranting on about.

The other side to last night's game that offers a glimmer of optimism is that as bad as we were, we only lost by 12 points, and won the 2nd half against a relatively settled side where for mine, Taylor was dominant, they controlled the middle better than us, Tino was awesome and Fifita was what was expected of him - a game breaker.

I am not throwing in the towel yet. We just need a settled halves combination ASAP and again for mine, that cannot be both Milford and Croft. It's either or, and I am suggesting maybe Croft at 14. I would like to see Dearden partnering Milford before any decisions are made to drop players.

I found the use of Flegler a bit odd too - played the first 20, went off.

Came back on at the 60 minute mark, only to go off again 10 minutes later.

One positive - the jersey looks great.

It's taken up until now before I was calm enough to comment on last night.

First up I know Kevvie has a lot on his plate and we all know it will take more than a handful of games to turn around the mess we are currently in.

Many people on BHQ have sounded patient and understood this and have remained positive by pointing out the small incremental changes they have noticed. I agree totally with their views, but heavens above it seems as if half of the team has never played the game before let alone played at NRL level. The amount of dumb plays last night left me furious. The ball retention seemed to be an afterthought. We were 9 from 15 coming up to half-time!!! Not sure what our final error count was.

So yeh Kevvie may be changing things, but no one in their right mind would expect that he'd need to go so far back in fundamentals and teach them basic ball security. I'm sounding like a broken record i know, I said the same last week. He needs to cane the **** out of them through the week on ball handling skills. I've seen better security in Samoan prisons.

Carrigan needs to focus on simple, safe carries. last night was not the first time he has lost the ball in an innocuous tackle and in doing so lost the team attacking momentum resulting in us being put under extreme defensive pressure. He was not the only one I might add, but it is fast becoming a habit with him in particular. His no knock on before our try was a prime example. If he had been pinged that try was gonski forever.

Someone needs to pull Issako aside and tell him that stupid little girly skip he does only slows his momentum and fools no one - he needs to get the ball and fuckin run hard!! It is only then a side-step actually becomes effective and allows the runner to evade the tackle. At present he is hop, skipping and jumping better than the fuckin Easter Bunny on a hot tin roof. Just stop it ffs.

I bagged Riki's input last week and I have to say he was the standout for us last night. He took two solid hits from Tino and Comfortable Dave and still managed to make that break where he left his backline way down field. Milf looked like he'd been pulled out of the queue at Maccas and was in a hurry to get rid of the ball in order to return to his place in the queue. His mind was never on this game and he was never in the game. A number of times he shuffled across the field and handed the ball off to a forward for another 'settler'. Kevvie should be putting him on a course of diazepam if he feels he needs that much settling. His hospital pass to Riki who had three Titans sweating on him was just never on. If Riki makes the run for you Milf - the least you can do is take the line on yourself. That offload was bordering on illegal mate.

Would I have payed Walsh Milf's 1 million to keep him here? Too right I would. Honestly - what value are we currently getting from Anthony Milford?

Kevvie talks about we can't pay people on potential. Well we're paying Milf a mil and so far he's not shown us any of the potential we thought he had. At least Walsh can tackle.

Finally, Carty and Matto need to drill the kids all week that we are not interested in them trying to pull off some flash play for the cameras, all we want is socks up, sleeves up and a no-nonsense 80 minutes. They all seem to want to emulate Benji, but they end up looking like Sims (take your pick).

I'm not asking for the 1990s Broncos, or the 2006 Broncos, I just want to see a team that can hold the frikkin ball for 80 minutes. Some of that may be on Kevvie for poor bench rotation later in the game, but seriously there are guys getting payed in the hundreds of thousands and one of the basic criteria is to catch and hold onto the ball until it is deemed time to pass. After last night's effort Id say most of them are taking those huge pay-cheques under false pretenses.

No need to hear from the "captain." Here's Jake Turpin after the game:

Yes, Niu beginning to show us what the hype was about was probably my highlight of the match. His defence needs a lot of work, but bear in mind with these kids starting out, they're usually nervous and they're always easily fooled by more experienced players, especially in the backs where there's more room to move. I like what I saw from him. Let's hope he continues on this trajectory and learns to read play better. You're not born with that skill.
What do we do when Staggs returns? Maybe Staggs can fill the 14 position. Or can niu go back to fullback?

Bench use is a concern, not just in minutes, but where and for who they're being used. Their bench props are through the middle 25-30 minutes, ours are all towards the end. What are Kennedy and Bullemor gonna do when we're 20 pts down? TPJ was starting, off, on, off, on and we still only used 7/8 changes. Come on Kevvie

That's the first time I've gotten around to watching the presser, and Kev's demeanor is a tad concerning. He was asked the question of whether the job to turn the team around is far bigger than he assumed and he was emphatic in his answer "No", but his body language throughout the whole thing suggests otherwise.

What is absolutely clear from that is Milford and Croft are in the gun. They were the only two he name dropped throughout the whole conference which means he is seeing in them what the rest of us are and you can tell from the tone of his voice that he is just as fed up with it as we are. If either of them give a shit at all, they should be very worried about their immediate futures.
