Smoothy comes in but what happens then to Mozer?
Ideally, he'd play the whole season in the QLD Cup with a few NRL games thrown in.
He's not a player we should be rushing

It won`t surprise me if Billy plays better this season .
He will have trained in the position a lot more and should have improved all facets of his game . Confidence in his knee would be a factor .
Gonna get interesting to see the other #9s over the next cpl of weeks .

Think people are sleeping on ahearn as an option a bit.
No coincidence our structure seemed to go off when he was off. Seems to be a very loud voice and his flexibility will mean he may be an option around origin time.
Really like what he will provide at training the most though.

I find it hilarious Billy isn't even out there and the bulk of the talk seems to be about him in this discussion over the last few pages. We just beat a QLD Cup side ffs, you put Billy out there and he probably would have looked just as impressive. As you rightly pointed out, this time last year in the same fixture he did look just as impressive.
Just over the course of last year, people have formed their own views and there's nothing like a bit of confirmation bias, so yay, go Smoothy!

Man I am constantly impressed with his recruitment and retention.
He identifies weaknesses and plugs the holes everytime. He may not fill it with exactly what we need but he never panic buys and instead fills it with a very solid temporary option.
Rogers, smoothy, ahearn, hosking, ofolou, pereria, jensen, jock madden... I believe they've all been signed under him for cheap. Offloaded a lot of dead weight at the same time. Resignings aren't leaked to the media. He gets stuff out of bad situations (olopau) and jumps on chances when they pop up (walsh). No panic, smooth operater. Very impressed.

Probably because his competition just had an absolute blinder and according to our inside info guy smoothy has been promised a top 30 spot if he plays well, which he did. Absolutely no denying it. Smoothy belongs in the top 30 now, if that doesn’t eventuate then it becomes a farce and I believe oloapu. It is interesting times at the broncos next week or 2.

He will need to do it against an NRL club in a trial, at that point a few realists might take notice. As much as I love Wynnum-Manly, it's hardly the benchmark.

Looked really promising but in my opinion, comfortably outplayed by the other winger. Has some very nice attributes for a winger though.
