But Bennett gets what he wants?

He would have wanted those players at a cheaper price, so if he gets what he wants then wouldn't he then get those players? Wouldn't his aura have been enough to convince those players they would be better playing under him? He would have got Smith when he tried to sign him, before he became a Storm legend, he would have got Taylor to come to the Broncos at a cheaper price because it would have been better for him and his career especially being coached by the QLD coach and he would have managed to convince Carney to sign and abide by the rules set out for him.

It wouldn't be the first time he has done that..

But he couldn't do it this time.

Agree, however in times gone by during his former stint at coaching the Broncs we were not only winning premierships but doing it back to back. It was almost a given in those days “if you want to win a premiership go to Brisbane”- and they did and for unders.
Storm and Bellamy now have taken that mantle and will be hard to shake.
Yet to be seen if Wayne Bennett still has the full set of powers he had back then and I know we got Bird but just seems we are losing more players then we’re getting. Don’t forget he made a statement he didn’t want to lose Ese Ese, Moga etc which only complicates the situation. That said I continue to have faith and patiently wait.

Old no knees illman. Why would we bother.

Players do need a footrest on the sideline. But seriously we already got one ex Titan winger gaining dust in the squad, why do we need another back from there to do the same?

Anyone want a newsflash - Ash Taylor will not be a superstar. Why do people keep saying this?!!
He's a bit young to be saying that... No one had faith in Smith or Thurston when they were younger, they said they were to small

Rumours are there was some interest, but not at the money he wanted. He also wasn't prepared to have certain behavioral conditions added to the contract ...

so **** him

Your rumour is so close to be correct, that i would swear you have been around people that have been in the talks.

You guys ever remember Jarrod Sammut.....

He certainly justified his existance.

I think we should. Just to watch the meltdown from the Sharks, LU and the Sydney media in general. Even if he can’t play would be worth it...

Is he the coach’s son? If so, we should sign him and loan him to the Toronto Wolfpack for the rest of his career.

Yeah he is his son, absolutely no way the sharks let him go. Rumour doing the sharks forum was Flannigan primarily wanted Cronk purely to mentor him into first grade.

I wouldn't mind him staying in the squad purely due to the fact we have little depth in the outside backs, but you've swayed me with this comment. A broncos jersey is earned. If you haven't shown commitment to improve when you have been treading water as it is then you don't deserve to be in the team.

That being said, I think he's ok but he isn't exactly living up to his potential I feel...

I'm replying to this comment over here so it doesn't divert the Lodge thread.

I'm seeing a lot of parallels here with Gagai. Pearson isn't as hyped up as Gagai was but he looked awesome in his first few games, certainly as dangerous as Gagai seemed to be. But his last few games were stinkers and exposed his weaknesses.

He had his chance, sign him and you lose guys like Haas, Carrigan, Fifita. As its the only way to make cap space without shedding current 17 players.

Shit boots and unfamiliar combination with his centre. Wingers especially are prone to bad games once their confidence takes a hit. I remember Junior Sau putting 4 on JYY one time. Pearson will be fine

Napa is extremely overrated at club land, he did well in Origin, but he's pretty useless for the Rooters generally. Would much prefer we just gives the minutes to the guys we've got.
