The only reason Ridell went up the tunnel was because he was getting flash backs of when he was a kid getting dropped on his head by his parents...

It wasn't a spear tackle.

Well, he wasn't driven into the ground but he was not only above the horizontal, he was pretty much vertical. Dangerous throw may be the correct terminology. Let's not kid ourselves, if the roles were reversed we'd be calling for Riddell's head.

They are very similar besides Riddel landing on his head, but that could have just as easilly happened to Carroll, so I don't think that should be a factor in distinguishing the two tackles. Other than that, unlike Hayne, Hodges didn't follow through with the tackle, he let go pretty early on - Pig Riddel just displayed his amazing olymic diving skills. An Olympic of getting yourself injured... Also, there could be a case that Hodges thought Riddel still had the ball - Hodges' head went down before Riddel passed. And as for Hayne, unless he misheard the call, then he just clearly did it on purpose?

Why am I comparing the two? Firstly, I don't want to see Hayne get any special treatment. He should be getting just as much, if not more week than Hodges. Secondly, I was watching some idiots talking on Bigpond Sports - one of them pretty much said Hayne's was fine, and Hodges should have been sent off. Yeah right...
