Okay. For the sake of argument let's assume Lodge is on 800k.
What is his true value? 500/600k?
So, if we kept him for the next two years the most we'd have spent that was OVER his value would be 400-600k.
That's only if we thought he was a little overpaid.
Hardly seems worth it.

Only way i see it working is if we pay him his salary this year and additional funds out of this year's cap to be free of his salary from this season. Then his contract with Newcastle covers the difference of the options.

If he does that every second week and only plays half as well (100m+) every other week I'd still say **** yes. He is the leader of that pack right now. Getting rid of him would be a huge mistake IMO.
