Believe me I am not anti buying GI, as long as we don't sell the farm to do so. It all may be a moot point anyway if he does not come on the market or the Rebels go after him with the money they put up for Folau.

Rebels have the advantage in that there's no restriction on them talking to Inglis.

Some people seem too think the Broncos have already had talks with or are currently talking with GI. From my understanding of the rules thats completely against them.

I would love to see GI in a Broncos jersey next year but it seems a long way off.

Yes, the Broncos could not, in any official capacity, talk to Inglis or his manager about coming to the club. But there's ways around that - eg, Broncos talk to his manager about off contract players he does have, and just an "oh, by the way, how's Greg doing?".

The Rebels don't need to be subtle. They can walk into Inglis's manager's office and say "Here's an offer for $1 million a year from next year. Just get a release and it's done".

Nothing the Storm can do about that other than deny the release. But they can't take any action against the Rebels. They are under no obligation to honour the NRL's anti-tampering rules.

Likewise, English Super League clubs are under no obligation to obey those rules. They can also offer Inglis big money.

It's just another example where Rugby League is cutting its nose to spite its face.

I wonder if, given the salary cap scandal, anti-tampering breaches would be overlooked in Melbourne's case in an effort to get them back inside the cap. Especially if it increased the chances of keeping the likes of Inglis in the code.

The Storm have said they will kick up a stink if any anti-tampering stuff gets violated, so the NRL wouldn't have much choice.

What could they do about it though? What leg do they have to stand on? "HAY YOU CAN'T TALK TO OUR ILLEGALLY ASSEMBLED PLAYER GROUP! THAT'S NOT FAAAIR".

If it came down to it I think the NRL could tell them to sit down and stfu.

If the NRL had balls.

Also nothing the NRL can do about GI at Kangaroos/Origin camp going "Hey Locky, I'm so sick of all the shit at Melbourne. Would love to come up and play for the Broncos - whatta you reckon chances are?" Locky: "Dunno, I got a meeting with Bruno next week, I'll check it out." The following said meeting with Bruno - Locky: "Bruno reckons we can definiately get you under our cap from next year, especially if Issy pisses off to gAyFL." GI: "Sweet - I'll get onto it."

Oh lets push each other before the siren has even sounded.............that will make me look tough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently Ben Creagh is scouting for an NBA club because he has such good basketball skills that are on display each week in the NRL. However, there may be no clubs interested because unlike the Broncos, the Dragons are not the most marketable club in the country and therefore the press related to the signing of Creagh would nowhere be as impressive. If he was a Bronco on the other hand he may be in with a shot.

I thought Ben Creagh was looking for a contract to appear in The Nutcracker.

He's definitely a dribbler.

I may be wrong, but I can't see anymore players signing with the AFL in the short term - the two new clubs have had their big PR signings and have had a heap of press. Any existing club wouldn't need to spend that kind of money on a "high risk" player who doesn't play the game, as they are well established and don't need the publicity. I would say the Rebels are the bigger poaching risk right meow.
