Round 26 Broncos vs Storm - Pre Game Discussion

We can prevent them from making the finals for the the first time since 2002 I think... Please win this. It would make me so happy.

Now Melbourne will be truly desperate ....:(

Absolutely laughing about Parramatta !!! The Hayne Pain is Plain !

The rugby league Gods owe us I believe so giving Melbourne a mighty arse **** may well be on the cards. Results sure have fallen favourably over the last few weeks except for Manly letting the Wabbits win.

What I would give to walk away from Melbourne with the 2 points.

Playing Storm in Melbourne in a must win game for them. That's the last thing I wanted.

If they had won, their minds would be on the finals so they may have been switched off a bit. We would have had more to play for. Now, they won't be switched off.

We have only won 3 games from 14 attempts in Melbourne. 2002, 2003 and 2010.

I can't see a win here.

For me, next week is our grand final. If we win we can keep Melbourne from making the finals, that's as good as it gets. I don't care what happens after that (unless we win the gf of course)

Edit : my mistake, the storm are safe after the eels game.

Melbourne can still make the finals with a loss. It depends on how the Warriors go.

I beg to differ. If we find consistency for 80 mins, especially in our ruck defense, we're certainly good enough to beat any team in he NRL with the current spine.

Agreed that our spine is quality right now.

But consistency in our ruck defence for 80 minutes? Against Melbourne, in Melbourne, with the season on the line? Very big ask...

I'll be cheering, but I'm pretty sceptical of our chances.

Doesn't matter. Just beating them is something special, especially this season

Lets not kid ourselves, its going to be just like the Souths game. Boys against men.

I don't know: playing for a finals berth, Hook's last season ... the motivation is there to play of out our skins. And I'll especially take Hunt over Cronk at last.

The only thing that worries me is Hodges defence at the back

I'm worried about his positioning and slow speed.

I would be expecting Cronk and Smith to try and kick a couple of 40/20's.

I'm also expecting a lot of kicks into the corner.

Tonight proved that there's points to be scored against them. Hunts grubbers into the in goal and Hodgos cut out passes are key.

The winning factor though is shutting down their beautiful flowing attack and defending repeat set after repeat set. Our resolve in defence will decide this game.

If it weren't for Ben Cummins and his band of merry men, we would be coming off two beltings. I think we're in to good enough form to win it, we just need to go up a gear.

Motivation just isn't enough though. We need composure, discipline, and the class to seize the game when it lies in the balance.

We can't beat them in a nail biter. They're just too sharp. If we win, we have to get ahead early and be relentless in maintaining that lead. To do that, we'll need to neutralise their key players, which is a monumental task.

Even at our best this year, we've fallen short against the top teams. Souths, Roosters, Storm. We're just not there yet.

One thing I have learned about rugby league over the years that anything is possible but a win in Melb is highly improbable and I won't be putting any money on them, ok, maybe a grand.

Technically we might not even have to beat Melbourne to make the 8. If warriors win this weekend by not much and then eels lose to raiders in Canberra which is possible and warriors lose to panthers in Penrith we are still in the 8. Obviously we should just win Friday night and not worry about the eels and warriors!!
