Technically we might not even have to beat Melbourne to make the 8. If warriors win this weekend by not much and then eels lose to raiders in Canberra which is possible and warriors lose to panthers in Penrith we are still in the 8. Obviously we should just win Friday night and not worry about the eels and warriors!!

That's probably the saddest way to make the 8.

I'll make this bold claim now: if we beat Melbourne and make the 8 comfortably, we will be behind only the Roosters and the Cows in the Premiership stakes.

I dunno, our side is way more balanced now, the combinations are established and working well enough.

With results gong our way at least our destiny is in out own hands now. Given our good F/A a win secures a spot in the 8, and again if results go our way we can finish as high as 6th. We beat Melbourne we'll finish 7th.

Interesting to note that as of right now, all of the Storm, Broncos and Warriors have destiny in their own hands. Only the Eels would need favours to make the eight.

On the other stuff about if we beat Melbourne then we will be 2nd favourites. Haha your joking right...? The better teams like chooks, manly, Souths don't have poor 20min periods where they concede 18 points and almost lose games from an unlose-able position. In big games a period like that will cost us dearly. It's happens to many times this year and unfortunately I can't see it stopping anytime soon. We have points in us but when push comes to shove we can't seem to defend a lead.

Souths have received the most penalties this year, and I haven't ever watched a game this season, despite the horrendous standard of refereeing, like our Cronulla and Saints games where the refs blow five+ consecutive penalties, all of which bewilder the average spectator. You (hopefully) won't see that sort of trend in the finals.

The Warriors have to win by 50 to knock us out....and I think that unlikely, they would be too tired to score that many !!!
