The Ashes 2009

Michael Hussey. Michael Bloody Hussey. It's a joke that he's lasted this long while Haydos copped the shit that Hussey should've.

He'll probably retire after the Ashes anyway. It's one of the few things left for him to do really.

I predicted Hussey to top the run scoring leader board so he better get a move on.... Also comparing Hussey to Hayden is a bit silly Hussey is 4 years younger than Hussey and that is the only reason why he is still in the side...

Haddin and North were brillant last night they looked the good although the Poms bowling and field settings were crap... Clarkey looked the best but threw the hundred away...

Time paradox much?

Rain seems to be the only obstacle to us winning the first match

Who on Earth would you want to replace Mike Hussey with though? The only batsman that was really denied a spot was Hodge and he's what, 34 or 35? The only player I can think of is perhaps Jaques and he's an opener anyway.

Good point I suppose. I'd still give Hodge a go anyway.

This may be frowned upon by some on here but we must realise that Katich isnt an opener. Yes he has done well there in recent times, but he is a number 3 or 4...he has scored all of his state runs there. So if we want to get rid of Mussey it is more than feasible to drop Katich down to 4 and bring in Jaques. If not its a straight swap for Hodge....I guess they may give someone like Ferguson or Voges a go at that spot sometime in the future. eusa_think

Nup you can't move Katich from where he is now. It's like Rugby League - you don't weaken one position to strengthen another.

Well its not really weakening it when you are moving a makeshift opener to the middle order where he belongs and bringing in a specialist opener. I am not the biggest fan of Jaques, but its insanity to think that the batting wouldnt be stronger by bringing him in and moving Katich down.

I do however agree that it won't and probably shouldn't happen, so don't get me wrong in that regard. I am just merely saying that Katich is a number 3 or 4 who at the present time is opening because we don't really have any viable options.

Nah. I reckon drop hussey, bring in mcdonald. He won't score hundreds, but he can at least contribute with the ball too.

I expect Hussey to get runs this series so he won't be dropped... It was quite a good pill for Anderson to get him out... If Hussey can't perform in the next 4 tests I expect Watson to come into the side but I'd love to see Ferguson get a crack. Jaques will struggle to get a run he is on the outter with the selectors because he is hopeless in the field...

Big day today I expect the Aussies to win the test but England should be able to bat the day out without the demons of Warney to haunt them..
