So will McGuire cop a fine after that indirect spray at the refs ? Because he comes close, asking reporters whether the calls were right or wrong.

The only reason the ball came out the back is because Milford threw it away... trying to sell the try.

Just like the field goal... y'know how he started walking back, fist pumping? Trying to sell the fact he didn't knock on.
What are you saying? That he should concede to referee errors and "walk". That referees should be perfect? I'm not convinced that they were errors, but if they were, they were hard to criticize, at least the onfield calls.
What is more concerning, is the lack of consistency in the application
I posted a few weeks ago about how the Bunker have been instructed by the NRL that they can only rule on the ball going between the sticks if it is sent up for referral.

Admittedly, this game did not go to golden point but the theory is the same. If a game is in the balance, infringements, errors and indiscretions get ignored.

Any touch judge, pocket referees, heck, even main referee would've seen that as a knock on.

That bothers me. It also bothers me that most RL fans aren't bothered by it.
If you want perfection in refereeing then we would need to stop at each play-the-ball and analyse it. After all why the last play of the game? What are we going to do drag them back out there and play another 5 minutes, hang around for a few minutes after the game has been decided, just in case? and why then the last play? after all the argument could be made that the same should be done for every decision that results in a stoppage, every try, every handover, every knock on, every pass that could be a forward pass? We got lucky maybe with a few calls. South's got lucky with a lot of forward passes, a lot of holding down in the play-of-the-balls.
I actually would prefer the majority of calls were done on field and NO video referee. Why? Because sport is about the drama of the moment. Sure you want a fair game where match day deciding calls are correct, but at what cost? You watch your team score and you want to cheer and celebrate with them when they do, or feel the despondance when your opponent does, not spend 2 or 3 minutes staring at a soulless replay screen waiting to cheer whilst the players, the main actors on this stage tie their laces or pick their nose, but that's what we have done to this game.

The offical word from Archer is the Milf field goal was good, the Moga try not so much.

Sutton's ruling on the Gutherson knock on in the Eels vs Panthers game just confirmed that Milford did not knock on last night because Milford took possession of the ball with the fingers from both of his hands before the ball touched the ground.

Now Maguire can shut the **** up.
Did he though...?

Capture

What do you guys want? Even looking at the still frame both his hands are on the ball, with one under, and the other having his fingers bent, applying pressure. If there was a still frame showing separation, fair enough. But there isnt. The ref saw it and in the he fraction of a second he had called it good. What more does this need to kill this issue. My thoughts for the try are already here so I won't repeat them, but its almost as if people want us to lose these games or are needing a reason to beat a drum on one issue. Referees are human beings not drones of channel 9 commentators, who themselves are hardly un-biased.

I think it was a knock on but am happy. I would be filthy if Thurston got away with it against us though.

On the Moga try, fair try based purely on how long the give players to try and get it down. Hess had longer to get it down against us and that was deemed fair. His momentum had been stopped but he was petmitted an age to break free and score by the refs. No difference here.

Can't believe the negativity here

Sure it wasn't perfect, but winning some of those 'rough' or 'off' games is crucial in getting into the top 4

The boys made some mistakes but they did plenty right too

Plenty of mistakes from the refs, but the dud calls went both ways

And for those making ridiculous claims like 'we lose if Reynolds plays' allow me to re-phrase for you: Souths play better if both their starting halves play

Well guess what, so do the Broncos - not to mention Kahu and TPJ

Based on the explanation as to why the Moga try should have been a No Try, every try scored previously where the tryscorer has not successfully grounded the ball at the first attempt and has only grounded the ball after jostling or wrestling with defenders holding the ball up should have been disallowed.

Keep digging nrl and nswrl. Keep digging.

You know, that's twice now we've had natural right-footers switch back and pot a field-goal on their left peg.

It's fucking impressive, and I feel like if JT or some other media darling did that, we'd never hear the end of it. Yet, I haven't heard a peep about Kahu or Milford's goals.

Seriously, try a drop-kick with your unfavoured foot, it's hilarious how unco you'll look and feel.

Maybe it's a coaching issue. Maybe they are actually left footed and didn't realise.
Maybe Ben Hunt is actually left footed........Would explain alot.

Milford 'threw the ball away' with the help of Souths players as they pushed it out.

If you are going to call people idiots you might want to make sure you don't come across that way yourself.

Referees boss said today that the tackle was complete and play should not have continued. Perfectly backs up my opinion that Milford knew he was held and since he was over the line he tried to release the ball and sell the try.

Anyways, it's not like being wrong yet again has stopped you before.

I haven't read the other pages regarding the Moga try in this thread but to me it shouldn't have even got to that point in the decision. From what I saw, there was insufficient evidence that Milf did not ground the ball at some stage, therefore the onfield ref's decision of TRY stands. Fucking simple.

TBH, it looked to me like it was raked/punched out. I saw nothing to indicate Milford was attempting to celebrate a try.

Exactly this!

There's no way the video referee should have overturned the on-field referee's decision. They really don't make it easy for themselves.
