**** Johns when we have Lockyer....and Alfie !!

seriously 1 like of this post is not enough ...

in fact i'm going to go one step further and say that this is literally you best post EVER :whoo:

Locky and Alfie were very instinctive players...it's not something you can teach.

Johns was a lot more structured, and Hunt says he's been basing his game on his.

You're wrong.

Hunt's managment don't want to sign- his price is going up all the time. Broncos have started with McGuire.

THE Broncos are yet to speak to Ben Hunt about extending his contract even though club officials last week requested a meeting with Josh McGuire to begin negotiations for his extension.
It is understood Brisbane are waiting to hear an official “No” from Manly star Daly Cherry-Evans before discussing terms with the boom half.
Hunt’s management is unconcerned at the stalling tactics, backing the 24-year-old to maintain his form which will see his price tag continue to rise.
Both McGuire and Hunt are set to double their deals when their contracts expire at the end of 2015.
Cherry-Evans is expected to stay at Manly who will make him one of the game’s top-five highest-paid players.

Interesting.

to me that sound like they are adding 2+2 and getting 22.

here is the translation ...

since the Broncos haven't officially started negotiations with Hunt. we THINK they are waiting to be told "no" from DCE, who we THINK will be offered 1.1 million by the Broncos.

no facts at all ... but it sells papers

Brisbane have yet to start contract talks with halfback Ben Hunt, who is proving as creative as any NRL playmaker.
Any extensive delay in negotiations would fan speculation that Cherry-Evans is in their sights.

Again today.

I'm all for making a play for DCE as he is a top player. But not if it effects us keeping Hunt.

If somehow we lose Hunt because of a fantasy(cause that's pretty much what it is) chase of DCE then I will walk in to The broncos headquarters and personally bitch slap every member of the administration that had a hand in the decision.

Make sure you tell me when your going to do this, because I'll join you. This is so fucking retarded

The real problem will be if we miss out on both of them. We wait and wait and wait for DCE but he doesn't come. Meanwhile Hunt has signed with another club. That is the danger here. I get the feeling the club is happy to do this because they know Taylor and Nikorima are coming through.

Yes, I'm with you here.

With the wealth of talent coming through... both Nikorimas, Taylor, even Paia'aua, besides Lee and Berrell, the club may not be too worried about losing Hunt in a chase for DCE. It also puts the club in a stronger negotiating position when it comes to Hunt's contract renewal.

We can't wait too long, but I have no issues with the club waiting until the off season, or even the pre-season to make a decision.

I have a big problem with it. If there was any chance of getting DCE I wouldn't have an issue, but this is pure fantasy. At first it looked like it was just being hyped up by the media to sell papers, but if the administration are now believing it we are fucked. There is no way on earth DCE is leaving Manly, it's just not happening.

So what will most likely happen is we will sit around with our fingers crossed waiting for someone that will never come. Meanwhile Hunt will sign elsewhere, because there is only so much you can test someone's loyalty before they tell you to get fucked.

So come 2016 Hunt will be elsewhere, DCE will be at Manly and we will either have 2 young halves that we have no idea if they will work, or stagg at halfback. Hook will be re-signed because it wasn't his fault that DCE didn't come and hey really thought we had him and our premiership window has been pushed out to 2020.

But its all good because by now we are all used to mediocrity and are happy to be competing hard to make the eight, and as long as we avoid the spoon its been a successful year

From what I understand this the first time in forever we have a number of talented halves coming through the system. Not quite the same class as the Tiggers with Brooks and Moses, but fantastic by our recent standards. Im actually feeling positive about our halves situation as long as Griffin goes.

I wonder how DCE would have gone this year at the Broncos in place of Hunt?

Hunt or DCE?

DCE - #7. Hunt - #6. Giddy up?

You're taking a lot of assumptions and making them fact, something you constantly tell other people not to do...
You're acting like the sky is going to fall on our heads, if we don't re-sign Hunt now.

- First of all, why is DCE protracting his re-signing? Unlike Hunt, he is already an elite player and doesn't need to wait for his value to go up, to see if he gets a better deal. Worst case scenario, he goes into a bad patch of form, or worse, gets a serious injury, which will make his value drop.
There is definitely fire under all that smoke about player cliques at Manly and DCE being on the outer of them.

- Second, the Broncos have burned themselves before, by re-signing a player while he was on a purple patch of form, only to end up having an overpaid player hogging the salary cap. I absolutely support the club waiting till the off season to see how well Hunt performs when the pressure really is on at the business end of the season.

- Third, unlike previous seasons, we have a very good batch of playmakers coming through the ranks, and a whole year to get them ready for the NRL if push come to shove. It makes the club's position stronger in its negotiations, because it is not as desperate as we were a year ago.

In 2015, we will have Hunt, Barba, Milford, Taylor, both Nikorimas, Paia'aua, Macca, Berrell and Brandon Lee. It's an embarrassment of riches, and in fact the best we have ever been served as far as spine players are concerned.
Yes, there is no guarantee they will be top NRL players in the future, but that goes for Hunt as well... and that puts the club in a very good position to negotiate.

Well, we will see what the club does and what happens won't we.

You have a lot more faith in the current administration than I do, that's good.

The only one you need to cross off that list is Brandon Lee who is not really a spine player.
