NEWS Corey Oates cleared of compound fracture

NRL Physio says he’s a pretty good chance of returning from the injury.

The femur heals well. It’s just going to be a lengthy recovery.

Given the past couple of years he might as well have been playing with a broken leg, I jut can't see us not finding someone more interested and deserving of his position while he's off.

So...will he have to quarantine for two weeks when he goes back?

But also extremely happy to hear the news it isn’t a break, for all the Broncs woes this year, he has tried his guts out and has actually been pretty decent in the second row.

Corey Oates has been cleared of a suspected compound fracture of the femur and could be back on the field within three weeks in a massive boost to the Broncos back-rower and the club. When Oates was stretchered from the field and taken straight to hospital late in the 46-0 loss to the Wests Tigers on Friday night there were fears that his career could be over. The 25-year-old went into a state of panic and thought he may never play again when the doctor told him he had sustained a suspected compound fracture of the femur, an injury usually associated with car accidents.

After being rushed to hospital and examined by medicos Oates has been diagnosed with a large haematoma and a deep gash in his leg. He will have surgery on Saturday and has been told he should be back on the field within three weeks. Oates will not fly back to Brisbane but will be driven back to his home city in the coming days. Broncos official Adam Walsh is with him in Sydney and will drive him home.
****, carried on like he had a compound fracture lol.

I don't think I like why you are asking but it's options for '21 and '22. His form might be down but that's on how we've used him (or haven't) for over a season now.
He has options for 2 years? why do we keep doing this shit.

Good news for Corey. Our stocks are pretty thin at the moment.

So happy for Corey. There's something kind of profound in that much of his recent form is attributable to a malaise at the club. The fact that his career might have ended in a freak accident as a result of a positional shift from a coach struggling to find any direction and it appears authority is notable. That would have been a terribly bitter pill to swallow.
A plate in his femur may well have ended his career, that would have been a terrible tragedy. So I'm very happy to hear it's not as bad as initially thought.
