Should do everything we can to sign Smith NOW for 2019 for one season....
What would old mate Macca think about that? :P

While I'm not yet outright convinced Seibold is the man for the job, I had to chuckle when Chris Johns pushed Kevin Walters for the job implying every team he has been involved in coaching has had success........I'm not even convinced Kevin will be coaching Qld long-term, coaching an NRL full-time is on a whole other level.
Seibold took a tired, predictable side that relied on their core group of frowards and turned it into the most electric attacking unit in the comp. That left edge for the Rabbits had shit players (GI is a shadow of his former self and injured most of the time) but he made them unstoppable. He turned a 27 year old bench hooker who’s been flicked by several clubs into the aus hooker. Hell, he even got the Burgess boys to stop dropping the ball as frequently and kept Reynolds on the park for more than 50% of the season.
The rabbits were scrambling to keep him and only went with Wayne when they knew their efforts had failed. Aka Wayne was The emergency choice they came up with in a few days.

Or a change of coach just gave everyone a kick up the arse and players started performing more - and Seibold is getting way too much credit. Another possibility.
Not going to call this guy a coaching genius after one year as a head coach. Lots of head coaches have had a good year in their first year.
I would actually be spewing if I was a bunnies fan. To be losing a guy who turn Souths into a genuine premiership contender with an exciting brand of footy. And to have him replaced by a guy who refuses to adapt to the modern era of rugby league, a guy who has had limited success in the last 18 years.
Bennett gets the broncs to the finals each year yes, but we are never really genuine contenders. To be honest in 2006 I didn't even think we would win but we stole it off Melbourne. They have not let us forget about it ever since. I wonder if Bellamy rates Bennetts coaching?
In 2015 we certainly passed all expectations. We have obviously had many other years where we were in with a good chance but I thought we often overachieved.
Many of us have rose tinted glasses for Bennett. To swap him with Seiblold is akin to swapping Thaiday with Crighton and yet Souths are trying to play it off like they came out on top....huh? I see straight through their bull###t!!
Am I the only person reading through this forum and finding yourself agreeing with both sides of the argument at different stages?...
Bennett is the greatest coach of all time and he has built a great squad, and has gotten good results in recent years despite not winning a premiership...
But...
We havent won a title in 13 years, he hasnt won a title in 8 years, the last 2 years we have dropped out of the finals with pitiful performances, and bennett has 4 or 5 years left in him MAX and the last time we sat on our hands we ended up with henjak
Is seibold the answer? I dont know, none of us do. Is he worth a shot? I think so. People forget that every great coach started off as an unknown, but then again, so did ivan henjak. The thing that fills me with confidence isnt seibolds one year at nrl level (proves nothing in my eyes) or his record at lower levels, but its the obviously thorough process the club went through to identify him as the right man for the job.
I actually think Bennett will win or come very close to winning a premiership at souths, but I dont think he would have got it with us. The players had a great chance to go far this year to do it for him and they played like they did against the dragons. On this point, any player that leaves purely to play under him will do so with my blessings. They had their chance to play for wayne and they showed less heart then the tin man with their performance. If they like playing under him so much that they would follow him to another club yet they still turned in those performances i doubt they will ever show the passion and drive needed to win a premiership with our club when he isnt coach.

that might be relevant if we wanted to sign him as a player ... but we were looking to sign a head coach, so what matters is his coaching record, which is abysmal
maybe he should tell that to his ESL team ... i wouldn't class a 39% winning record as successful
