Bellamy 'remaining in Melbourne'
From staff reporters
April 18, 2008 CRAIG Bellamy is reported to have signed a five-year contract to remain Melbourne Storm coach until 2013.
The contract is believed to be worth around $2.5 million, among the most lucrative coaching deals in rugby league history.
Bellamy, who coached the Storm to last year's premiership, is reported to have telephoned Brisbane chief executive Bruno Cullen to officially reject a massive offer to move back to Queensland.
Bellamy's decision to remain in Melbourne represents a huge bonus for the Storm but a devastating blow to the Broncos, who want a high-profile coach to replace six-time premiership winner Wayne Bennett for next season and beyond.
Bellamy, now regarded as the No.1 coach in the game, will lead New South Wales into the State of Origin series against Queensland this year.
