I don't understand why people are glad he didn't come. He might be a bit of a douche, and employs some questionable tactics, but deadset, we would have won the comp every year he would have been here with us. [icon_ee

Every year? Then I don't understand how he didn't get named Coach of the Century last night?

He is by far the best coach in the NRL right now. He didn't get it because his actual coaching career wasn't long and isn't even close to being over.

Seriously, he can make all of his players play much better than they actually are. We would have dominated easilly.

I agree he's a good coach. Great? Not yet. How far would he have improved the Broncos? A bit. Enough to dominate the comp every year? Hell no.

If the Storm could dominate so much with their team, we definitely could too. I don't if people understand this, but all of their structure and all the little things they do right - it's mostly all because of Bellamy. Without those things they wouldn't be half as good.

You don't think the roster has a slight influence on this too? I don't recall the Storm exactly dominating in the earlier years of his coaching tenure.

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

He's a good coach, nobody's denying that. He creates a good structure and his players work to a game plan. It's simple and effective.

John Cartright's doing just about as good a job IMO. There's no brain surgery in their game plans. It's quick rucks and momentum out of your half, kick to the corners and try and contain your opposition with well drilled defence. In attack, players know their roles and they stick to it.

There's plenty of coaches who could adopt a similar game plan and execute it with the Broncos' talent.

Ivan Henjak is one!

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

whos to say he hasn't already? Surely Henjak already plays a major role in the Broncos style of play...

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

Shocking news. Even more shocking is the fact Bruno set his sights only on Bellamy which means we've missed out on Neil Henry as well who was my first choice. [icon_non

Daniel Anderson will have to do.

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

Until Bellamy gets a few more years under his belt, including a couple of rebuilding ones, I will not be convinced of his greatness. He is very good, yes, but a coach has to prove himself long-term.

No team will win every game, and I want a club I can be proud of supporting even when they lose. Bennett gave us that, I'm not sure Bellamy would.

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

Henjack hopefully we'll get it.

Nice one Bruno

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

I'm sure Bruno and the Broncos board have a backup plan... they surely couldn't have been stupid enough to go after Bellamy without a backup plan in case he turned them down.

One would hope.....the stupidity of the board has been slowly revealed over the last couple of years though....

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

The evil person inside me is wondering what the hell Bruno is doing. Causes drama with Bennett and doesn't get Bellamy.

I can only hope that he has an ace up his sleeve and whoever he picks (Matterson, Anderson, or...GOULD) turns out to be the right choice.

But then again, Bellamy could turn around this afternoon and say he's leaving the Storm.

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

To chase Craig Bellamy for as long and as hard as we did only to end up clutching at thin air is nothing short of humiliating for Bruno Cullen and the club.

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

Bellamy 'remaining in Melbourne'
From staff reporters
April 18, 2008 CRAIG Bellamy is reported to have signed a five-year contract to remain Melbourne Storm coach until 2013.

The contract is believed to be worth around $2.5 million, among the most lucrative coaching deals in rugby league history.

Bellamy, who coached the Storm to last year's premiership, is reported to have telephoned Brisbane chief executive Bruno Cullen to officially reject a massive offer to move back to Queensland.

Bellamy's decision to remain in Melbourne represents a huge bonus for the Storm but a devastating blow to the Broncos, who want a high-profile coach to replace six-time premiership winner Wayne Bennett for next season and beyond.

Bellamy, now regarded as the No.1 coach in the game, will lead New South Wales into the State of Origin series against Queensland this year.

Re: Broncos Keen To Secure Bellamy

Can't blame Bellamy for not turning down that much money.Set him up for life and who wouldn't want that.Done deal according to Fox Sport

Stuffed up enough Bruno so lets get on with it and name the coach for next year.
You have already lost the best coach ever in Bennett.Let us see what you can do now while you wipe that smirk off your face thinking you had Bellamy in the bag.

Matterson would be a starting place.Club passion, knows how the club works and respected by players.
